Blood Sugar in High 20's and GP not helping, please advise

Fibromyalgia? I have that too, one of a growing list of ailments! Three flights of stairs? Blimey, I can't even manage one, am in a bunglaow ;) But good for exercising, I used to go to step classes many moons ago, a good workout :)

Yes, that's it Rowan. Only small flights of stairs though.

You can tackle this diabetes thing in two ways. Give in, accept your fate, take tablets and carry on as you were with minor tweaks eg a few less chips etc. OR, you get angry and fight back. You dump the carbs completely, no drinks apart from coffee, tea and wine. Get some exercise if you can coupled with No Carb high fat diet.. The weight will drop off and so will the b.g. levels. There is no point discussing which bought soup has the less carbs. Dump them. Don't bother with them.

I'm intending to, I have only just started.

I have stated, previously, that I have had my head in the sand for too long. Not anymore.

I've had enough. I don't need this. I feel ill and you and Milly have made me cry. Please stop.

I have fibromyalgia too. Currently in flare- think the Metformin has made it worse. But my mum was right.. It's easier being in pain 5st lighter. You do appear to be trying hard, but you are trying hard to hold onto your old ways and beat diabetes at these same time. As much as I'd love to say take the meds and just eat brown bread instead of white, I can't. A the risk of being brutal, that way lies an early grave. You can fight against giving up your old life all the way and make yourself sicker and sicker or you can decide that you deserve better and give this a real go.
Tomorrow I'm eating bacon and mushrooms for my breakfast ; lunch is going to be tuna crunch salad ( red peppers, red onion and tomatoes mixed with tuna mayo) homemade coleslaw ; dinner will be belly pork done in slow cooker with cyder vinegar, broccoli, few carrots and fiat beans and some cauli cheese. I plan ahead a few days and always have lots of salad stuff in so I can mix it up. Get a book and write a list of all the things you like to eat now and maybe post it on here so we can tell you how to adapt it to suit you. ( I can't adapt 6 slices of white bread into anything though!!)

I actually think its a good idea to buy online.. Then you aren't so tempted by the **** in the shops!!! Saves petrol and time too... Despite any delivery charges that may be added.

Takes me 3 hours from leaving house to getting home as I always end up in queues or seeing people...

So now send hubby if I can or online. That way I have time to make the home made foods...

And online you can easily check the carbs each food contains, that's how I learnt a lot in the first week or so :)

It's all about thinking ahead. Ditching the carbs does mean you can't just grab something but I enjoy thinking what I am going to have and reading on the low carb food thread what everyone else is having.

It is hard, Scottie. No one wants to make you cry. We've all been here and come out the other side. We will help as much as we can but only you can make the changes needed. Good luck .

I have been cooking, it's just all the meals have spuds in them, hotpot, stew, pie etc. Meals I can't eat anymore but what the children and hubby still can. i still intend to cook these but only for them, it's meals for me I am finding hard.

You can still eat them (except the pies!) but just don't give yourself any potatoes. Or use celeriac instead of potatoes, they taste better anyway ;)

Roast swede is delicious. Once you get a handle on things you can test and see if you can manage a roast potato. use cauli cheese mash as a shepherd's pie topping.
