    Neuropathy Progressing Fast

I was diagnosed T2 in March. Tingling in feet quickly progressed to pain & numbness below the ankle. Consulted a neurologist and decided to take Gabapentin, because SSRI's gave horrible side effects. Since then I progressed to the max dose of Gabapentin, and the neuropathy is now below the...

At what rate should I loose weight?

I have been diagnosed for 4 months and so far lost 21Kg. Weight loss was rapid at first as I followed a 1600cal/day, 120g carb, low GI diet. Over the last 6 weeks I have found my target calorie intake to maintain a 1kg/week weight loss has dropped to 1460cal/day on Myfitnesspal. This is...

    My complications

I just checked my BG 2 hours after dinner & before bed. Lowest ever result at 5.5mmol/L. 4 months ago I was 16+mmol/L. I'm diet controlled. I could not have done this without metaformin if my GP had refused to prescribe test strips. GP says each strip costs £0.30. I use 100/month, so about...

GP uses low carb diet with 13 patients -amazed!

My story is very similar to your patients'. I was picked up as diabetic with a finger prickly test in an ambulance at 2am in the morning 5 hours after my last meal. BG was 16 mmol/l. Followed a few days later with a fasting test at 14mmol/l. Diabetic Nurse tried to discourage testing, but I...

    18kg lost, diabetes controlled

I was diagnosed type 2 in March with fasting blood glucose of 14, and a 2am reading of 16 5hrs after eating. The diabetic nurse tried to dissuade me from blood glucose testing. I ignored her and bought 1 from boots with 25 strips. I kept a food diary and called on the GP 4 days later armed...

    One Roll Too Much?

I've been avoiding all bread other than Burgen Soya & Linseed. Keeping carbs down to about 100g/day. Following a low GI diet. Today I wanted a quick lunch & picked up a soft wholemeal roll for lunch. 2 hours later BG had jumped from 7.2 to 10.8. Is that really down to one little wholemeal...

    Omlette

Slight variation, I love scrambled egg. No added milk. Just a small nob of butter, with 20g of flaked smoked mackerel fillet stirred in at the end. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Carb Content

They vary quite a bit. Cardini's Original Ceaser Dressing is the lowest I found. You can get it in Tesco. However, it has more fat, and more calories than others. I use less of it if I add shavings of Paemesan for extra flavour! Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

Have I done enough to avoid medication?

4 weeks ago I had a BG reading of 16 3hrs after eating a Sandwich at 2am. I had a fasting blood test a few days later and the result was 14. Since then I have been low carbing and on 1500cal/day. I've lost 8kgs. My BG initially dropped to the range 9-13, varying widely. Over the last 4...

    newly diagnosed

Hi, I was diagnosed 2 weeks ago on 23 March. Since then I have reduced my carbs, reduced my sugar intake, and I'm following a calorie controlled diet. I'm choosing low GI foods where possible. I bought a meter, used the 10 free strips, then called the doctor and told him it really helped me to...

    Low Carb Diet

I'm hoping the reduction in carb intake, combined with some calorie control will bring my BG down gradually as my weight reduces. Down to 108kg from 113.8kg. Currently rarely seeing BG readings below 8. I had a stinking cold on Sunday & Monday. Hardly ate a thing, appetite was completely gone...
