    Type 2 Kidney numbers

Thanks. That helped me look further into it and the stumbling block is how to convert mmol to mg and I'm getting the sense that it isn't a simple conversion. There's maybe another parameter needed that's beyond me, eg from a Google search: "How do you convert Millimolar to micrograms? A 1...

    Type 2 Kidney numbers

My last annual diabetes review led eventually to a kidney disease diagnosis as well. The "out of range" result was expressed in a (mg) to (mmol) ratio but all the online values express the ratio in (mcg/L) to (mg/L). Can anyone help me to translate the first into the second, please? For...

Thanks for the benefit of your wisdoms and for taking the time to share. Much appreciated.

Type 2 How to resuscitate an Accu-Chek?

My Accu-Chek Performa-nano meter appears to have given up after two years. It flashed code E7 so I followed the instructions and it died. I tried new batteries and it still stayed dead. Any suggestions welcome. Or is it time to get a new meter? If so recommendations welcome here too - I'm...

Type 2 Prophylaxis before cataract surgery?

I’ve just been given a date for cataract surgery, which is good news, but it’s scheduled for three days after the pre-assessment, which doesn’t leave much time for prophylaxis. I remember reading somewhere that diabetics should apply a course of eye drops for 1 to 2 weeks before the procedure as...

    Re-using lancets?

It seems a waste to only use a lancet (accu-check) once if I'm the only one using it . How many times do other people use them, please?

Thanks. How do you know you're having a quick spike please? ie what are the symptoms?

Type 2 Reducing post prandial BG levels

Is there any evidence that drinking lots of water or being active after a meal reduces the post-prandial blood glucose levels? Some of my strip test results hint at this but they’re by no means definitive. I’d be intrigued to hear if there’s any substantiated evidence for either. Thanks.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Thanks. Very interesting. Makes a lot of sense.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Thanks. That shows how FBS is used as a diagnostic tool. Everybody here though has already been diagnised so I'm wondering what it's being used for - to indicate the efficacy or otherwise of yesterday's diet? And therefore what works and what doesn't? Or something else?

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Apologies for my ignorance but I'm recently diagnosed type 2 and am wondering what the FBS indicates and why i should keep an eye on it? What should I be looking for and what behaviour would it affect? Thanks.

    BG contributions

It's too early to tell. I've only been testing for a few weeks, but if there is a significant contribution to BG from fats and protein it would make sense to limit them now rather than carry on regardless.

    BG contributions

Thanks. Does that mean that there is no significant BG contribution from proteins and fats?

    BG contributions

At present when assessing meals for their bg impact I just take account of the carb content, but a chart on another forum says there’s a bg contribution also from protein and fats. I’ve not seen this mentioned anywhere else and I’ve been happily upping my protein and fat intake to try and...
