    When do you inject?

Thanks everyone. I have a bit of a slow metabolism so I'm going to try a split dose (post meal BG can be in the low teens which I'm trying to combat)

    When do you inject?

I had lunch with a fellow diabetic today who told me he injects before meals. I usually figure out what I'm going to eat, do the ol' carb counting then inject afterwards. I've heard of people who inject mid meal as well. Is there a 'best approach', does metabolism factor in or what the meal...

    Bedtime blood sugar levels

Hi, Better to have a little something to stop any night time hypo. One slice of bread should do it, it's 25 (ish) grams of carbs so your back ground dose should mop it up naturally. Rgds, Andrew

    Morning blood sugars

Re: Morning blood sugars I would check with your DSN if splitting your dose might be suitable for you. I did and it balanced out my readings quite quickly. Again though, check with the medical experts first.

    New Meter, different numbers?

Hi... I just got a new meter, one of the ones that this site gives away (Bayer)... I thought I would test it against the one I usually use(bog standard Boots brand meter). The boots meter gave me a reading of 13.4, the new one gave me a reading of 11.7. Not sure which one to trust! Any ideas...

    Insulin Types

Hi Everyone... I just wanted to see if there were any opinions as to which insulin was 'better': Apidra or Humalog? Cheers... Andrew

    Sugars are driving me mad!

Could also be an absorption issue... do you rotate your injection sites enough? I found that if I didn't, my BG began to rise regardless of the amount of insulin I threw at it.

    Spicy food and BG

Hi... wondered if someone could help me out... I enjoy the occasional hot Indian dish, namely vindaloo. I try to keep it to a minimum because of the rice, nan etc. However, it still wreaks havoc on my BG levels. I've looked at the amount of carbs and adjust accordingly yet I still get...

    Insulin and alcohol

How do you adjust your insulin for alcohol - namely beer. I know it has carbs in it and I'm not worried if I have one, but if I have more than that I notice the effect on my BG. However, it always make me nervous to add any insulin as I know that it will drop my BG later on (normal morning...

    Stress and High BG

Hi... I've searched the forum to see if this has been addressed, if I have overlooked a thread and this is a duplicate please point me in the right direction.... Can stress cause BG to go up? I'm currently doing some driving lessons. I ate a small lunch (sandwich and a banana) about 1/2 an...

    hunger-hypo or high!

One of the reasons you feel hungry when you're high is that your body is not getting the sugar into it, it's trapped in your blood. Your body is conditioned to provide you with a hunger response when you need something, therefore, when it feels that it doesn't have the fuel to keep going, it...

    Thank You

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone on here. I've had a couple of what I consider to be naive questions; no one has ever made me feel silly for asking them. I've always received very straight forward and frank advice. I really appreciate this. So... a big thanks to everyone who has made...

No Insulin and a good reading?

Not sure... can the 'honeymoon' period comb back? never had anything like this before... today, almost the same thing.. I had two banana's for breakfast, purposely did not take insulin then checked my readings after a bit and it was 4.9... usually I spike a bit with a banana...
