What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

6.8 this morning.
Mr K had a bad dream last night - that both me and Bonnie had died yesterday. That woke me up and neither of us could get back to sleep. So at 3am he made us both a cup of tea and bought up a dark chocolate digestive biscuit for each of us.

At 3am I just could not resist the chocolate digestive biscuit. It was delicious and both of us slept really well after that.

I expected really sky high fbs but was really surprised it was in the 6s.

I am really lucky that no headache today. Mr K says the wound looks like it is healing really fast, Glutes feel a tiny bit sore, but thats all.

I wish you well, I am under the hospital diabetic team and they fitted an Abbot sensor, I fought not have one, because I am immunosuppressed and was fearful of effectively an open wound, but the medics fitted one and am now quite happy with it. The GP prescribes the sensors and I now no longer finger prick.
Thank you@alf_Josiah for you kind wishes. I am glad things worked out well for you. :)

@dogslife. I can identify with your situation regarding the not testing blood glucose levels. Also, that you are keen to follow the forum rules. (Thank you for that) . I stopped posting in these threads when I stopped testing fbg. I was finding that testing told me nothing new about how my diet affected my diabetes. Though I also tend not to have time for social chats.

I have tested this morning, as I have a bit of a virus, so was keen to know how that and the excesses of the season just ending has impacted my management. Today reading was a far too high for me 7.2. Do I blame the more than usual, carb intake? The current lingering lurgy? The stress of trying to do right by all members, but being regarded as a killjoy by some? The weather? The reduced opportunity to get out and about, due to pain from my own crushed bones on more than one occasion? Lethargy? Apathy? I really don’t know.

Something that has occurred to me, @dogslife is that a solution for you and others to be able to continue to chat with the friendship group you have been chatting with and, indeed to open that up to others who may or may not test their fbg, would be to start a fresh chat thread. It could perhaps be of interest to someone like @Annb who has said she does not understand some of the more hidden, cryptic not always subtle messages some folks leave, or @Krystyna23040 , who seems dismayed that you are not going to be posting here. Of course it would need to be within the inclusive spirit and ethos of the forum, but I guess there could be more folks who would welcome a place to socialise, and support each other, with a wider group, and make new friends. Though I would hope that those who care about you from here would also chat to you in a new thread. Nobody should feel they have no place for social support, and inclusion. Surprisingly to some, that should include mods and former mods. ;)

You are not a bad owner, you didn’t let it happen….like you didn’t let yourself get diabetes.

Does asthma occur without a cause like diabetes? I thought it was an allergic reaction that might never occur.

To be honest, I thought my cat would react worse, but even though she doesn't like the nebulizer buzzing like a vacuum cleaner, she just meows when they close her in the carrier and turn on the inhaler, but then I give her tuna and she forgives me.

I'll just put it in the carrier

cover it and turn on the nebulizer

Her asthma attacks scare me more than the treatment, because she coughs for a whole minute.

I woke up with bg 9.2 today. It wasn't too good, but I went to boxing practice anyway.

I know nothing about asthma in cats, @Zhnyaka . Only that cats cause an allergic asthma attack for me. Have you or the vets been able to determine what triggers the asthma for your cat?

I have no idea what causes it in her. There are practically no allergens in my house. I bought an air humidifier in the hope that it would be better for her with optimal humidity.

Is there an air filter on the air humidifier?
Is your cat a house cat?
Is your treatment solution working for her?

Sorry I don’t know much about cats, at all, just allergies in humans, though I guess just as for the humans in the forum, we shouldn’t offer medical advice for cats, either.

By the way… good to see you posting , @Zhnyaka .:)

She looks lovely, just like my other cat. But mine wouldn’t be sitting in the box like that, she’s a very nervous cat and would run when the box is opened.

Asthma can be an allergic reaction, but can also develop/run in families. My husband has asthma but doesn’t react to any specific allergens, usually just to very cold weather.

I have a regular humidifier, because the doctor said only about humidity. She may be allergic to dust, but I have no proof other than that I'm a lazy person who doesn't like cleaning the house.

I would not apply the advice without consulting a veterinarian. But even human medicine is still poorly developed, antibiotics are not even 100 years old, and insulin is only a little over a century old. Veterinary medicine lags behind human medicine, we simply transfer human treatment methods to animals, although they are different biological species. My cat has human medications (Pulmicort and Berodual) and a human inhaler. She hasn't had an asthma attack for three days, but 2 happened yesterday, and none so far today. Probably, the drugs still work, although it's too early to judge.

The weather changes a lot here, so I often get headaches. Maybe she has some kind of reaction to the weather, too. For two days there was a snowstorm that practically paralyzed city traffic.

By the way… good to see you posting , @Zhnyaka .:)
Nice to hear :)

It takes me a little bit of violence to close her in the carrier, at first she was thrashing around inside, but then she realized that the nebulizer wasn't trying to eat her.

What a cutie pie cat .

Try this health & safety advice for ice. Cut the toe of an old pair of socks & slide them over the shoes..
Should grip the ice.?
Sounds stupid & looks silly, but..
It never stopped my grandfather getting down the pub or me hiking to work?

4.6 on the ol waking..
It does work. This is how we survived the winter of 1963.
Granny advised us to put a pair of dad’s socks over our wellington boots so we could get to school safely in our gabardine macs and balaclava hoods to keep us warm.
It did stop us slipping, but also spoiled the fun of making ice slides that the other kids enjoyed.

Good afternoon everyone on a distinctly blustery, chilled day here in the dark and very dangerous underfoot north. Not a day for walking - however - I can recommend a nice warm supermarket and some interval walking up and down every single isle. Gymnasiums are so overrated and don’t sell groceries.
A 5.7 micro snapshot of the battle between several internal organs on waking.
Log splitting yesterday - where did that stupid idea come from? Now my somewhat uncooperative and prone to seizing fingers are sulking noisily inside a pair of gloves.
Talk of asthma going on. I have asthma and the added golden bonus of emphysema but no idea about animals. Things that kick it off more than anything else are those who overdose on perfume. Also aerosols. Walking into Boots (other similar emporia available) is a nightmare.
I hope your day is being kind to you. As to happiness, as a would be stoic I am with Marcus Aurelius; “Very little is needed to make a happy life.”
Afternoon koffy? Don’t mind if I do.

Hello everyone. I woke up with 5.7, bg was great all day, even when I ate a piece of cake with friends, and then in the evening it rose to 14 and I brought it down to hypoglycemia, and now it's 9.0 :( A little annoying

My cat was diagnosed with asthma by a vet and now I think I'm a bad owner if I let this happen. For three days (since the start of inhalation), the cat had no аsthma attack, but today 2 happened. I'm under terrible stress.
Maybe I'm just exploiting with the fact that I have diabetes to whine here... but where do you usually find joy every day? I feel like I have very little happiness left inside me.
What a very pretty cat. Sad that she suffers from asthma, it must be very distressing for both her and you.

Neil doesn’t have asthma, but does have difficulty and pain breathing when exposed to things like: cigarette smoke, mould, dust (not necessarily dust laying on surfaces, but watch out if someone stirs the dust up by dusting the house), grass cuttings, pollen (especially lillies), some household chemicals, perfume (especially patchouli), aerosol sprays, cats (particularly entire male cats), lactose, animal protein of any sort, sugars, artificial sugars, many medications, peat dust, woollen or man made fibres. The list goes on and sometimes seems endless.

The point is that anything can cause a reaction in a susceptible individual or animal. The only way to get an idea of the allergen is to try to figure out what was in the environment in the minutes before the attack and see if it happens on other occasions.

In the 7s again!
My youngest son has suffered with asthma all his life. And mostly anything can trigger an attack, when he has a bad day. Not many people know that highly industrial areas are prone to cause an attack because of the atmosphere. We have a lot of air traffic and of course road traffic in our area. He lives close to the river and that is better for him. But it was noticeable during the height of covid lockdown, he could a lot easier. I told him to live in the middle of nowhere, in a temperate climate.
He was not impressed.

Another good day for Mrs L, though, I'm not having my ears on, I can't hear her for some reason.
However I'm feeling rough again slept for eleven hours, just feeling tired, must be something?

It is one of those wintry days out there, weather any make it's kind up, cold wind, showers, a bit of snow, dry, cloudy, therefore showers, temperature dropping off. More showers, cold wind.

Best wishes, take care, keep warm.

3.7 at 04.00 today. 4.0 by the time I got to the kitchen.

I only got to bed at 01.45 but straight to sleep so that was about 2 hours. Another hour in the chair after some painkillers. I wonder if this stupid sleeping pattern is making my BG pattern equally stupid. Left hand taken a step backwards last night and today.

BG just dropped from the 6's down to 3.3 so I ate a toffee and had a cup of tea. 15 minutes later: Still waiting for it to rise even a bit. Might have to do something else - find the packet of digestive biscuits - pretty sure there is one in the cupboard.
