'According to today's Daily Mail..' -- I stopped reading at that point.

    Warning Rant Ahead

Smile-nod-ignore is the usual routine. Or you could say: 'That's your truth and I respect it'. Makes the point, and they can't claim you're being offensive (given that the nurse isn't respecting YOUR truth).

There is a cure.. how come nobody does this?

For someone who says 'don't trust doctors' you seem very keen to behave like one. I am still waiting for any evidence of 'vast knowledge'.

    Living with non-diabetics

The problem is when non-diabetic other half decides to buy into the basic diet, but then builds in non-diabetic elements and treats because she can, but still wants us to eat all the same meals (and will eat up supplies of diabetic-friendly foods). And wants to stick with low fat. Sometimes...

Books to buy any suggestions ?

If you are T2 and can only get one book then I would strongly recommend David Cavan, Reverse your Diabetes -- clear, balanced, sane and up-to-date.

    Weed and diabetes

I just felt someone sooner or later should point out that it's perfectly possible to have an enjoyable and happy life without getting regularly drunk, and it's possible to be chilled out without taking recreational drugs!

Is your diabetes a day job?

Unless you are defining diabetes as 'a more enjoyable occupation or hobby'? I've known more enjoyable hobbies....

Hey guys good news, hear me out?

No I don't notice and no I don't have low magnesium. But I will add this to the list of unconvincing mono-causal explanations of diabetes that I have read....

Manipulation of the cost of Type2 diabetes?

I note that Simon Stevens is a close friend of Boris Johnson (who has been described by those who know him as a compulsive liar). His experience of the NHS outside management seems to consist of a week's work experience as a hospital porter. He has no qualifications whatsoever in medicine.

The Hidden Killer. Type 2 Diabetes.

Good for you. Now you just need to put in some strenuous hours building up your compassion and empathy muscles as well. You might find that harder than cycling but it will be worth it in the end.

Out for coffee what can i have

Ideally you break the connection in your mind between drinking coffee and having a sweet snack altogether. But if the flesh is weak, take ONE Nairn biscuit with you for dunking.

Hi @debrasue -- re another thread -- could you possibly repost your prune and amaretto recipe please? thanks.

Amaretto cheesecake -- where did it go??

Help! There was a recipe for prune and amaretto cheesecake a few weeks ago on the forum. I finally got the ingredients together and now I can't find the recipe. Search function doesn't pick it up. Can anyone remember and find a link to the thread? Otherwise I will have bought my amaretto in vain...

    Carpeted Houses

Just to be contrary on this thread ... first thing I did moving into my current house was to rip out all the ugly cheap laminate flooring and put carpets in. Warm; comfortable; kinder to feet and joints; and also it is possible to kneel on the floor to fix things without being in agony after 10...

Why Do Diabetics Fail To Adhere To Dietary Regimes?

Sorry to sound sceptical, but could you explain what you mean when you say you are an 'an advanced diabetic educator'? What actual qualifications and experience do you have? What 'dissertation' are you doing and where are you doing it? What are the 'many articles' that you have read? How many of...

    To test or not

No. The powerful practical reason against regular testing for type 2s is that it would cost the NHS too much. All the other claims - that it's useless, that it causes anxiety, that it hurts (there is a thread somewhere on this forum with some amazing examples) -- are pretty shoddy attempts to...

    To test or not

To be honest I don't think this is one of those 'who knows what is right?, everyone is different' questions. Twoplayer put it right. Unless you test you cannot know how well you are doing, or what foods are spiking you. @Heretic1 cannot know that 'everything is heading in the right directions'...
