    Free eye test question

While true, I wouldn't want to buy tailor made varifocals online. Much rather the opticians measures everything proper;y, plus (as happened once before) I don't get on with them, they made me a pair with a different lens free of charge.

Contour next one 1.0 above Codefree

Hi all, been using codefree for months and am more than happy with it. I entered the draw on facebook for the Contour one, and received one (I suspect everyone with diabetes who enters, gets one) , but I don't get strips on prescription, so it's going to be sitting in a cupboard until such...

    Free eye test question

Just had my eyes tested. Optician was great (Specsavers) Bill came to £306, I said I simply couldn't afford it, and he gave me a 50% off voucher :) So my new tailor made Vari focals with reaction lenses, ultra clear etc only cost £153. Very very happy

    Free eye test question

Thanks all. Found a free eye test voucher if I'm buying glasses, I just went to my specsavers and asked if I could still use it even though I don't have the money for my glasses until Monday. They suggested rescheduling my appointment to then so I can get my free test.. In theory having...

    Free eye test question

Hi all. I had my eyes tested at specsavers around Feb March, and they said my sight had changed considerably. As I had recently been diagnosed as a diabetic, she stressed the importance of coming back in a year for another test. However, my lenses are over £200 (varifocals) and I currently...

    Did anyone read this?

I started LCHF 3 to 4 months ago. I'm eating fried bacon, 3 fried eggs a day (all fried in butter), a chunk of fatty meat for my dinner, the only veg I have is 100g of cabbage (covered in salt), a load of cheese, extra thick whipped cream and sugar free jelly When I had my diabetes review at...

Taking a couple of days off from Type 2 life

I THINK that's probably because they put me on meds and I started my strict diet when my highest HB1AC reading was around 55. Had I not been going to the GP so often with other things, chances are by the time it was discovered, it would have been a lot higher. My recent HB1AC test was 37

Taking a couple of days off from Type 2 life

Thanks all. Just got myself a tub of oppo (chocolate and hazelnut). Just tried it, it's delicious :) But as usual it's also expensive. Seriously considering seeing if I can get a ice cream maker for xmas, then I can make my own :)

nice ice lollies or ice cream

Just got my first tub of oppo. Was after vanilla but only had the choice of mint chocolate or chocolate and hazelnut. So got myself Chocolate and hazelnut :) Just tried it, yes, success, something that's really really nice :) Thank you very much. I think I might see if I can get an ice...

Taking a couple of days off from Type 2 life

I do appreciate the danger of falling to a routine of having more and more days off, with fewer and fewer gaps etc. I've explained in one of my other posts about some of my health problems. To put it bluntly, I'm too ill to even consider part time work , CFS/ME (along with other things) means...

Taking a couple of days off from Type 2 life

I didn't check my blood Saturday until bed time, but I checked it regularly Sunday. Sunday morning, I had pancakes, syrup as well as potatoes, sausages, hash browns with my all you can eat breakfast. I checked my blood about 2 hrs later, it was 7.5 I had a (big) slice of chocolate cake and a...

nice ice lollies or ice cream

Admittedly I've not looked into ice cream yet, but I suffer from very fry throats and ice cream or ice lollies are really nice (regardless of it being winter). I have been making my own lemon ice lollies out of sugar free lemon squash and water in ice lolly molds. These work to a point, but...

Taking a couple of days off from Type 2 life

As per the title, what are your opinions? I've been on a strict LCHF diet for 16 weeks. I would be lying if I said I didn't miss my carbs. I decided to take Saturday and Sunday off as my son was home to celebrate his (25th) birthday. Sat morning my weight was 101.8. Had a couple of bacon...

    Low carb/low calorie

16 1/2 weeks ago I weighed 125kg. Last Friday I weighed 101.8kg I'm only having lunch and dinner at the moment. At first having cheese as a snack and sugar free Jelly and extra thick cream made no difference to my weight loss. But now, if I snack on cheese or have sugar free jelly and cream...

Just had blood tests done, first time since LCHF

I like the way I can log onto my GP surgery and view my test results. They did a full mot :) Hbac1 only 37 :) Last time it was checked (before I joined this site) it was 55 Only things that seem a little high to me (with zero medical knowledge) are some of my Urea and Electrolytes. I...

Tom Watson - Type 2 diabetes and me

When I went to my Desmond course, the two people there with the highest HBAC1 blood count (and they were very very high) were both normal weight/slim. I suppose that for most of us T2 can be a result of being too overweight, but for some, it's caused by other things?
