    OMAD&KETO D1 (hypo's)

Actually try it out and keep a record of your test results. If reducing the Tresiba dosage increases blood glucose during the day, you may be able to close that gap with Actrapid. You could also try switching to Levemir for basal. You will have to discuss it with your doctor. It helps to have...

    OMAD&KETO D1 (hypo's)

It is the 10 units of Tresiba that is doing it. Reduce the dosage until the hypos stop. If blood glucose goes high during the day, you could also try switching to a shorter acting basal like Levemir and injecting it in the morning.

I want to use Actrapid as a type 1 diabetic

I never had any problems on getting Actrapid prescribed. Covering meals was only part of the reason, though. I also need it to fill a basal gap in the morning and afternoon.

    Diabetic BGL vs non-Diabetic

It is because the liver releases glucose and there is not enough stored insulin (phase 1 insulin response) to deal with it. This tends to happen every morning as part of the circadian rhythm. AKA 'Dawn Phenomenon'.

    Night shifts and insulin use

Doing basal testing over the 24 hour cycle gives a good idea of the level of basal cover and where it may need to be adjusted. Start the test with blood glucose in the target range, skip a meal/bolus and test every hour until the next meal. If blood glucose drops much during this time, there is...

    What’s the perfect hba1c

That normal blood glucose is healthier than abnormal blood glucose goes without saying. Whether normal blood glucose is achievable or even desirable is another issue. It depends on the circumstances. According to the DCCT study complication risk starts ramping up when HBA1c goes over 42, but...

    Night shifts and insulin use

Have you considered changing the timing of your Lantus? As you are now working at night, you don't need as much basal insulin action during that time of the day.

    What’s the perfect hba1c

You can't get better than 'normal', which is 4.3%-4.8% (24-29 mmol/m). The level at which diabetes is diagnosed is well above normal.

    Steroid Injection for shoulder injuries

Sounds like the medical opinion is that steroids are not right for her. They don't work for everyone. I got no benefit from steroid injections. They just messed with blood sugar. I then tried Serrapeptase, a natural supplement, and got complete relief. And no side effects.

    Statins and the nocibo effects

Yes, a very interesting article. All statin users should read it.

    Lyumjev prescription

Sounds like you have lost some insulin sensitivity. Changing to a marginally quicker insulin isn't going to fix that. Reducing carbs and exercise help improve insulin sensitivity. Have you tried bolusing a few minutes before meals?

    Statins and the nocibo effects

The placebo effect is very powerful. Especially with psycho active drugs. Like 40% of the placebo group reporting symptomatic relief during an anti-depressant trial, but there is a big placebo affect with all drugs. That users get adverse symptoms because they expect them is not surprising. I...

    Just been prescribed statins

Interesting finding. That 90% of observed statin side effects are because people believe they will have them is not surprising. The converse, that 90% of the reduced heart disease risk is due to people believing statins will have this effect, is probably also true. But one thing is almost...

    COVID vaccination

Research just done in the US shows public support for a vaccine dropping to 51%. There is a big partisan split. Resistance is part of the populist sceptical neo-liberal sentiment. But there seems to be a big drop in confidence across the board ...

    Just been prescribed statins

I still don't get the logic behind using statins. The liver makes cholesterol because the body needs it. It is not surprising that people who have heart attacks have high cholesterol. Something has to be done about the underlying inflammation. It looks like the anti inflammatory effect of stains...

Learning this ! My blood glucose levels earlier were 15.5 and 2 hours after dinner are 5.8 , that’s

I would want to understand why blood glucose was so high earlier. Was it something you ate, or is it because of inadequate basal insulin action? 5.8 is about where you want it 2 hours after eating. You may find that a big bolus like that lasts for longer, though. How did you work out that you...

    Tresiba mechanism problems?

You will have better luck with a reusable pen. They are very reliable. The NovoPen Echo does half units and remembers the last injection too.

    Lose of taste, sour tongue....

It could be an otherwise asymptomatic respiratory infection, although a'a couple of months' is a long time for that. What does the doctor think?

    Just been prescribed statins

My cholesterol has always been low, until recently. It was 7.23 at the last test. I don't see that taking a statin would be useful, but I would like to understand why cholesterol is increasing. The doctor has no answer for that question.

    LADA basal insulin bg testing?

Wouldn't it make more sense to replace basal with mealtime boluses? That way you supply insulin when it is needed the most (after eating). Blood glucose spikes kill beta cells. You may be able to get away with no basal for a while, as long as blood glucose doesn't rise between meals.
