    Starting over

Hi folks. I have tried going LC a few times if not several in the past but always gave in to my cravings for sugar and carbs. My reaction to carbs even when I am not bingeing on chocolate and crisps has gotten worse. Four potatoes (chips) and 1 and a half hamburgers put my BG up to 21.4...

Been put on Gliclazide, is it the beginning of then end?

I started taking Gliclazide 80mg morning and evening last thursday. I don't know if it is supposed to work immediately but it's not made much difference so far. Now I've been prescribed them on top of my Metformin 2,500mg a day I am starting to think I am on the slippery slope to insulin. :(...

    Structured Education day courses

About a week ago I got an invitation from my diabetes team inviting me on a structured education programme. I'd been referred about 18 months ago and forgot all about it. I decided I wasn't going to go as I felt we'd probably be talked to as if we were imbeciles and likely be told to fill up...

I read my replies then re-read my own post and the answer was staring me in the face. And what ladybird said about they dont really give a **** about me...

    Victoza versus insulin

Maybe they want to see how she gets on with victoza before trying insulin. it may be that they see insulin as a last resort kinda thing? Personally I'd rather take victoza than insulin as it can cause you to gain weight which is the last thing i need. How does you mum feel about it all?

    Anyone like me?

Hey thanks, WJ. Some good ideas there, planning is key. I was an obese child and now I'm an obese adult. So I've basically used food for anything other than hunger. If I made a menu and shopping list for a few days (small freezer lol) and maybe even set times to eat could help too. Yeah...

    Victoza versus insulin

Hi there soraya. Is your mum overweight? victoza can help some people get weight off because it slows down the absorption of food in the gut making you feel fuller for longer. Is your mum's blood sugar under control? victoza can help with this too. it's not for everyone though like most...
