When people who know nothing about the LCHF diet tell me I'm killing myself being on it. I was killing myself not being on it!
Can any of you claim to eat that much in a day?
Today I've eaten:
1 avocado, small handful blueberries (about 16) 1 strawberry, 2 long sweet peppers, one large mushroom and a good handful of spinach. I think I do well with my veg intake, but nowhere near 10

Over to you!

I would struggle to keep it below 10, frankly! But then vegetables have always featured massively on my plate - I have yet to meet one I don't like. I don't really eat fruit though (y'know, sweet fruit - I do eat peppers and cucumbers and tomatoes etc).

:)

Fruit is not too helpful for us with Type 2 and a lot of veg aren't great either.
As someone doing a no plant food month I would say that none are essential.. but as always each to their own...

I used to. And loved it.
Have cut down recently due to reducing carbs.

Official veg portions are pretty small (in my opinion). Three tablespoons - approx. Or two small pieces of fruit

I still eat at least 6 maybe, and i think that is not really enough for me to feel my best. Would prefer more. Mind you, i tend to have a few large portions rather than a lot of variety each day. The variety comes across the week.

Two plates a day are 3 quarters FULL of veg.

I eat loads of veg, especially broccoli, I should probably eat more fruit. I'm quite partial to a grape..:D

What is it supposed to do? Any context for reason to eat this much fruit?
Line the pockets of the fruit and vegetable industry?

I eat plenty of variety of fruit and veg but a lot of them mixed so they probably add up to a portion together.

Ah well - the powers that be are so sure that they have got the right diet, but it isn't working, so rather than say - oh - perhaps we are wrong, they just tell us we aren't trying hard enough and up the quantities of what they are sure is good for everyone to eat.
I did look at a website someone gave the address for earlier to do with nutrition (I know most of then are on here) and it was quite interesting - most people seem to be really trying to eat the 'proper' diet - but with only 4 portions of fruit and veg and fewer calories - really trying to keep their weight down I thought - and failing, if you look at the amount of carbs, protein and fat reported - it looked to be about right - but the calories were lower than recommended.

Fatty liver has put me off too much fruit and some veg. I won't be going there again!
I've seen the proof of too much fruit for me.

As long as youre not cramming McDonalds down your gullet each night you should be good. Eat whatever works for you, but don't try and force feed others that's what I say.

Everyone's different.

M&M anyone? :D

I agree, everyone's tolerances are different.

Not if they're peanut ones :hungover:
Just had a few mini eggs that's my treat for the night.

I went mad the other day and had my first banana in a year! It was wonderful. No idea what it did to my BS as I forgot to test. I eat lots of veg, but not 10 portions. I don't think my visits to the loo would cope with that amount :wideyed:

@ickihun how does fruit cause a fatty liver?

The eat 5 a day originated in California, with the main sponsors being the fruit and veg growers in that Sunshine State. Even the President of the World Health Organisation dissed it in his recent presentation video. I think what he actually said was, if you like veggies, eat them. If you don't, then don't eat them.

Interesting, eat more than 5 portions but not 10, probably around 7.
