Autonomic Neuropathy

I have been having a high heart rate for a few months now (tachycardia) and have seen a cardiologist last week. He told me he suspects it is Autonomic Neuropathy...
I have had diabetes for 33 years, I was 2 when I was diagnosed. I am now on beta blockers and to be honest I am kinda freaking out...
Anyone here who has the same? Any help or info would be really appreciated...

Rapid heartbeat is unfortunately a symptom of AN, as the following says:

No experience, but there was another member a few days ago saying they were also told they had AN, f I find the thread I'll post it.

I note you are T1, & have been trying the low carb, high fat diet for a year. Have you noticed a reduction in insulin, while achieving more stable BG measurements?

Probably all diabetes related conditions benefit from an improvement in control. I was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy 14 years ago - numbness in my thigh, & a sensation of loss of balance. That continued & intensified over the next 8 years, while I followed the DUK high carb, low fat diet.

Adopting the low carb, increased fat diet completely cleared that neuropathy, & I have been free from it for 6 years.

Yes I have seen a big difference in my BG levels and taking less insulin... Although I must be honest and say that I have had periods of time where I have not been counting my carbs very well...

I am back on the diet though and hopefully this is going to help...

Ann18 I have Autonomic Neuropathy which affects many different parts of me. Back in July 2014 I spent four days at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery having tests for AN. I have been diagnosed with Cardiac Autonomic Failure as well as other Dysautonomias.
To be honest I have probably had this for years without anybody recognizing my symptons, I too saw a cardiologist last year who also thought some of my cardiac problems were AN related.
Hope you manage to get a referral to a Neurologist who specialises in Diabetic Autonomic Neuropathy. Unfortunately there is no magic cure or treatment but there are things that can be done to manage it.
