Unfortunately I can't even get the pen to give 2 units of insulin. When the plunger is pushed nothing happens. Here's what I do:
1. Screw on needle and remove sheath
2. Hold pen upright, dial in 2 units, tap to remove any bubbles.
3. Press plunger and release. This will eject a bit of insulin.
4. Dial in your dose.
5. Stick pen in your skin and press plunger and hold in place for count of 10.
6. Release plunger.
Job's done!
Thanks. I will ask about syringes when I am at the pharmacy tomorrow. Thats 2 pens this week I have managed to break.Always keep a few disposable syringes in reserve so that you can pull insulin direct from a cartridge if a pen breaks....
I don't have any spare pens at all (my clinic and pharmacies don't like handing out spares).
Did you get them both at the same time? Maybe there's a manufacturing issue....Thats 2 pens this week I have managed to break.
Yes they were both out of the same boxDid you get them both at the same time? Maybe there's a manufacturing issue....

Are the needles ok? Are you able to eject insulin with no needle attached?Unfortunately I can't even get the pen to give 2 units of insulin. When the plunger is pushed nothing happens.
With pens you can never eject insulin with no needle attached. I'm not sure what you mean. Are the needles ok? Are you able to eject insulin with no needle attached?
Having a senior moment there ... A better question is: Have you tried changing needles? With pens you can never eject insulin with no needle attached. I'm not sure what you mean.
