oooh proper corned beef, not that fatty mush we get in a can here in the uk. You have reminded me to see if I can get some salt beef on t’internet these days... that would be yummy, even without the traditional mashed potatoes that us7ally accompany it.

When I worked in Soho I often went to a Jewish delicatessen for my lunch. If I asked for a salt beef sandwich it would be with the meat pictured, if I asked for a corned beef sandwich it would have the crumbly meat from a can. My dad called the canned stuff Bully Beef and wouldn't eat it as he had it nearly every day in the army during WW2.

Swiftly bringing the thread back on topic......

Yesterday saw some air fried pork belly pieces, copious amounts of Fage 0% yoghurt, Nando’s boneless thighs, Halloumi and nuts.

Got my eye on a veal shoulder joint for later in the week - never tried that before.

Considering the amount of fat you are purposely eating, why are you having fat free yoghurt?

Because it is lower in carbs than the full fat one I was using, tastier and I’m currently prioritising protein over fat (a la Ted Naiman). It’s an interesting topic but not for this thread. Happy to pick it up elsewhere if you’re interested.

Last day at work today, physically very tiring so I was really glad of the beef short ribs I’d bought from the farm on Friday, and cooked at the weekend in broth made from the bones I’d picked up there the previous week. A quick zap in the microwave and a very tasty and very filling meal. IMG_1617126756.489312.jpg

Used more wild garlic today. Just a couple of handfuls chopped and added to a frittata (serves 4) lifted it from ordinary to very nice.

Not quite sure that whisky counts as a real food :hilarious:

Failing on the photography front, but still enjoying my current staples. Lunch was mince fried with onions and 2 eggs. Dinner was smoked salmon. A bit of yoghurt crept in too.

Envious of your wild garlic @MrsA2

A goodish real food day for me:
Coffee, black until lunchtime.
Lunch: 2 smoked mackerel fillets on a plate of salad leaves drizzled with truffle oil. Plus a h/b egg.
Dinner: more fish, Sockeye salmon fillet with sesame seed topping. Chorizo and spinach fry up, and broccoli. A dollop of h/m Mayo.
Few Callebaut buttons to nibble on later. I weighed out 30g this morning but left them in the scales on the windowsill so they melted in the sunshine and look a lot less appealing all stuck to the pan now. (30g Callebaut is about 2g carbs but they are very high intensity cocoa. Quite hard to overeat)

You’ve reminded me - went open water swimming with a friend today and got chatting about wild garlic - she said she picked some that morning so gave me some to bring home. She had it chopped into her breakfast scrambled eggs, that’s my breakfast tomorrow sorted.
I’m glad I was with her as I spotted what I thought was wild garlic as we were walking back up the path. She said it was false garlic which has a narrower leaf than the real one. Every day a school day!
