I am so glad to have seen your post bobduff. I don't eat meat other than chicken very occasionally, and wish to also drop dairy, but was afraid of how it would affect my health. I have taken plant based sterols for my cholesterol for three years now and seen a significant drop, so it made me wonder about going plant based with the rest of my diet!
Thank you for that bulkbiker ... I shall sit and read that thoroughlyPlease be aware that @bobduff is T1 .
T2's being treated with low fat vegan diets didn't have such great results when looked at in an actual trial of the method by Dr Neal Barnard one of the main vegan docs.

Not even down to pre-diabteic levels.

Hi there I changed my diet 2 weeks ago and cut out all meat and dairy. I had been considering this for a while and had watched a few videos on YouTube about the treatment of animals in the farming industry which I was absolutely disgusted with. I thought that I would have struggled with this having eaten meat for about 40 years but it's been really easy and I have reduced my Lantus from 18 to 12 so far. If you are considering changing your diet I promise you that it will be easier than you think and you will feel much better.
It’s just not an option for some people,
Unfortunately growing veg and grains kills just as many if not more animals than eating them. They may be smaller and less "cute" but they get blasted with insecticide and chewed up in harvesting machines just the same.the lives of hundreds (maybe?) of animals.
Hi @bobduff
I’ve been veggie for 30+ years, and I really feel the need to go vegan for moral reasons.
How did you find cutting out dairy and eggs?
Milk I’m fine with - the soya alternatives are great. But I really struggle to find decent cheese substitutes (and I love my cheese), and I can’t get to grips with baking without eggs (and I love to bake - even if I don’t eat it)
I’ve come back to this forum for a bit of advice after taking a while off, and I know I’m going to get burned for this, but it is a bit off putting that the answer to pretty much anything anyone posts is “eat all the meat! Go keto. LCHF”. It’s just not an option for some people, and it’s not always helpful to jump on every thread with that. I’ve got my flameproof panties on, I’m ready!
