It depends if you are happy to consume artificial sweeteners.
As far as blood sugars are concerned you need to test before and after to see if they have any effect on you, some people get a rise even though there’s no real sugar. I am ok with them myself but I have to say I prefer Pepsi Max! ;)

I'm hearing mixed reviews is it safe to drink and is lucozade zero
I drink a considerable amount of Coke Zero (two cans today) and it's never had the slightest impact on me. No personal knowledge of Lucozade zero. However what happens to me may not be any dependable guide to what happens to you.

I believe it contains the same sweetener as Volvic No Sugar flavoured water. I did a huge amount of research on these sweetners, and to me, they seem safe for diabetics as far as sugar content goes. BUT, that's not to say that these sweetners can affect you in other ways. There are still huge discussions taking place on artificial sweetners being the possible cause of some form of cancers.

Ingredients: Carbonated Water, Colour (Caramel E150d), Acid (Phosphoric Acid), Sweeteners (Aspartame, Acesulfame-K), Natural Flavourings, Acidity Regulator (Sodium Citrates).

There are no calories or carbs in it, but there are sweeteners which in my view encourage you to like sweet things. And most sweet things contain sugars.

I try and avoid them because it encourages my sweet tooth but if I’m in dire need of something sweet (about once every couple of months and fortunately getting less often!), then I’d rather reach for a can of Diet Coke than a tub of Ben & Jerrys or a large bar of chocolat! o_O
As advised test before and again 2 hours after drinking it to see if the sweeteners affects you.

I drink diet coke, coke zero, pepsi max ... which ever is available ... when I need a caffeine hit. I normally drink herbal tea (coffee doesn't "agree" with me) so it is rare for my body to get caffeinated.
These drinks don't affect my BG but I would not want to make them part of my daily diet. Not only would I lose the benefit of the caffeine, I don't want to "train" my body to like the sweetness and with all the reports associating artificial sweeteners and ultra processed foods with cancer, I don't want to take the risk.

I think, as with all things, the choice is yours.

Test and find out. Sometimes, when you have something sweet, your pancreas'll pump out insulin because it thinks you'll need it. Then if you don't, your liver might overcompensate with a dump. That's why some people get a spike after sweeteners, even if they didn't have anything carby. Some'll drink so much -like I did- that their gut bacteria die, as artificial sweeteners are often toxic to the gut microbiome, and some might have migraines triggered. So.... If you want to give it a go, try a can and test around it, see what happens. And as always, everything in moderation. ;)

I think if we avoid anything "thought to be" carcinogenic, our diets would be very limited. I prefer to go for it "in moderation".
Exactly ,processed foods are almost unavoidable these days , yes red meat, alcohol, sweeteners can be done in moderation .

I think the issue is that this isn't just confined to processed foods and drinks. Even if I could own a farm, hand rear the animals and grow crops with an organic approach, then bring the end products to the table without any processing whatsoever, I still have to cook it all. Oven baking, grilling, frying, BBQing - all these have potential for adding carcinogens. Unless you live exclusively off raw or steamed organic food, most methods of cooking carry risks, even if the food itself doesn't.

If we followed all advice on what foods, or cooking methods, or environmental conditions, or activities could cause cancer, we'd have to live in sealed pods, never go out, and we'd die from malnutrition instead. It's why there's very little cut through with the public with these recommendations.

Edit - I'd also add that as far as I'm aware, unless I've missed something (happy to be corrected if I have) then the studies into sweetener safety haven't stated dosage levels needed to achieve a carcinogenic result. This is really the vital piece of information.

I drink diet drinks, usually with meals, they don’t affect my BG at all or trigger sweet cravings as I’m not at all a sweet tooth person but I find sometimes they can trigger a thirst even though my BG is absolutely fine

Until recently I would drink maybe two cans a day but one or two of my favourite YouTubers say not to drink them so I’ve knocked em on the head, I do have a large Diet Coke if out for a meal in restaurant and they taste amazing as a rare treat, way way better than they did when I have loads. Zero effect of my b.
