Since I've been cutting right down on carbs etc 2/3weeks, I've been maybe twice to the loo, not like me at all, I'm usually once or twice a day The last three nights I've taken 2 tablets of Senokot and still not budged! Please help

Lactulose sold at all chemists is ok and as it is a liquid it is easy to adjust the dose - start off slow. Once sorted the Lidl high protein rolls work pretty well to maintain things :).

One thing to consider is that the foods you are eating don't leave much behind so you don't need to worry too much.
I eat the Lidl protein rolls and take a couple of tablespoons of desiccated coconut two or three times a week - mixed into Greek style full fat yoghurt it makes a nice dessert.

One thing I have noticed for the long term (it might not help your current situation) is that a sudden change in the nature of my diet upsets my body a bit and can result in constipation or diarrhoea. Persisting in regular eating habits means that your body will get used to that and try to help.

EDIT: I don't mean the same meals every day. I just mean low carb or high carb or whatever but don't have days off and expect your body to understand what is happening.

When first going lo carb this can be the result. I tried tablets psyllium husks etc and they did nothing. I then found about a vitamin c flush. Basically a teaspoon of powdered vitamin c in a glass of water every 15 minutes. you would usually go after 5 teaspoons or 1 hour and 15mins after starting. See the link. Ignore the bit at the end for continued usage unless you feel the need to take lots of vitamin C. you may have to copy and paste the link. You can get the powder from Holland and Barrett or most health food stores.

My colon was paralysed and I was reliant upon drugs only prescribed by a consultant.

Amazingly we bought a vibration plate... for exercise....I have now been able to come off this colon drug.....

Hubby noticed it first. Within 30 mins of using the plate he needed the loo. For a BM. Then it made me realise I was too. I cut out one tablet and another! Now I can go for a BM with only one medication and no tablets anymore!! Brilliant!!
Saved the NHS even more money!!

Must admit I don't tend to have this problem - I walk at least 45 mins a day and I do remember that exercise moves things through the gut - so the vibration plate obviously works on the same principles!

Laxido never helped me with a paralysed colon!
Thanks, my CCG dont pay for lidocaine patches for my radiotherapy pain so I also have to buy thes at £90 for 30! Other ladies can getthem for free but my CCG dont allow so no otger choice to get pain free but to buy them online..

Magnesium supplement works wonders for regular bowel movement.... I use mag citrate, 200mg daily. Keeps my pottying a daily occurrence.

Yes those vibration plates do tend to shake the **** out of you. ;)

Wrote an update note to my gastroenterologist today telling him to use me as an example for research!! On just how much a vibration plate helps extreme impacted constipation!!

He knows me very, very well. (Inside and out-yuch, lol!!) and knows how I try to help myself. This update will make him laugh!!
