COVID 2019 Comorbidity with Diabetes

Apart from appearance, masks are only good for reducing range of spread when you cough or sneeze. There are many negatives for the person wearing if untrained or not fully following protocols.

I've been reading stories at the pulmonary fibrosis forum I go to - people being screamed abuse at for wearing masks (to protect themselves), coughing (part of the disease is an uncontrollable cough) and/or just being on oxygen. I'm starting to get even more nervous about going out in public now. Even physical attacks on people of Asian appearance. Getting sick is not the only thing to contend with, it seems :(

Plus people in Australia seem to have gone nuts in a toilet paper buying frenzy, stripping supermarket shelves, etc. Gawd only knows why. People are bonkers!

Indy51 people ARE going bonkers. Seems like things started getting worse in the US with the economic down turn in 2008. I honestly think all the processed foods people are eating is damaging their brains. I listened briefly to an interview with Mark Hyman, MD today - (he's out promoting the release of his new book Food Fix). One thing he said that I found greatly encouraging is that quite a few of the big food companies are changing course and trying to be more environmentally friendly. One example was getting glyphosate out of cereals. That's huge.

Twelve years ago, I was afraid of driving. Today, I'm afraid of walking downtown to and from work. At least when I'm driving, I have the protection of locked doors.

The level of intolerance regarding "differences" is at an all time high in the US thanks to our current president. He made a bad situation so much worse.

I really get your concerns and fears. You're not alone in feeling vulnerable in public. The good news is...most days I have no problems with people. Hope that's true for you too in the long run.

That's what they're saying here in the US too. For a couple of days now, officials have been encouraging people to stop buying and hoarding masks so they're available for the people who really need them, health care professionals and people like Indy51.

A good strategy is to avoid crowds and maintain distance from people in public. I've done it for years navigating the city to avoid smokers.

SO sorry to hear that @Indy51 .

i posted a link up in a previous post on another forum thread,
about making your own masks..
https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/th...se-full-on-chat.163627/page-1015#post-2226568

maybe of use.
Note that in china you could not enter shops without one, it seems.

Can see that if the trends follow Wuhan style, then anyone wearing a nice premium mask aka ministers, MIGHT be looked upon very poorly indeed if it looks to be at the expense of those in the front line if we start to struggle supplying to health workers.

Sadly might be True in some cases..:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

am i wrong in hoping a few use Gaffa tape..:bag:.;)

Like the spirit, @Indy51 ..
WOKE to the danger, as we all slowly are, yet still seeing the funny side of life,
now THAT should be on every prescription ..a GOOD dose of humour to blow away the darker moments.

Take care my friend:)

What made me smirk was the announcement by the makers of Corona Beers that they had experienced a massive downturn in sales due to people believing it caused the Corona Virus.

This thread is doing the rounds on Twitter and is more balanced than much of the information I’ve seen so far:
