It's not as if they're there to help you, though, is it?My practice has point blank refused my request to supply any strips

what does he base his decision on? you use insulin, I think?Well I've got 100 testing strips for a month, which is 3 strips per day. The doc said that should be enough.

I'm sorry he thinks that, but at least it is better than the 50 he initially gave you. Is there any chance of you self funding some extra ones?
It's up to you. Do you think it's worth it? If yes then self-fund, if no then the nhs is probably right not to let you have any more than you get already. If you don't think you are worth it, then why should anyone else pay? My advice would be to get what you can from your doctors and self fund the rest. You are worth it.Yes I do use insulin and I just don't see one doctor, I see multiple doctors at the same surgery.
I could self fund, but I've been told it would be not worth it.
who told you that?I've been told it would be not worth it.
that's ridiculous , you are supposed to test before every meal , before driving - and every 2 hours if on a long drive - if you don't do that and have an accident it could invalidate your insurance and lose your licence , contact your MP if you get nowhere with the practice managerThis morning I went to see my doctor to get my blood test results, which I did. Everything is fine apart from my hba1c and when I asked for more testing strips, he denied my request and said that the 50 a month I already get is enough. I'm expected to test once or twice a day, even though I'm on insulin.
[/QUOTE]I have been told to not test anymore, due (I think) to the cost of test strips.
Every time I attend the diabetic clinic, they ask what my levels are, and I can't tell them. They just raise their eyebrows when I tell them the G.P. told me to stop testing.
Don't know why as a type 2, I would not have to test?
