Fasting Blood Sugar this morning + yesterday's food AND physical activity

Great FBG & exercise as usual, I do like snatches but won’t go above 9kg dumbbell, kettlebells could slip & get wrist)
Mums fine thank you, think they’re just being really cautious,
Video call with consultant is 19th May, hopefully MODY results will be back but then
Garmin said last night I was down to my achievable fitness age (7years younger), happy with that, 1 Pencillin left so hopefully b/s will behave better,
gym this morning before work
Enjoy your day
Good luck with the consultant call on the 19th. So great that it is happening, you will have MODY results and a proper diabetes consultant to help you with the BG levels. So glad to hear it.

I get the feeling that your Garmin is underestimating your fitness age, anyone in their 30s would struggle to keep up with what you can do mate! 70 lengths and 14000 steps + some treadmill work! :woot: AWESOME!

Tried calling to get my blood test results today from GP, but secretary couldn't give them over the phone .. will have a short call with GP on Monday morning.
Hope your day is going well .. sorry for posting late ... been very busy today :)

100 push-ups wow, wouldn’t even attempt that,
Great FBG too
Bet you’re house will be quiet without your daughter, must be really hard for you
Don’t apologise for posting late, you were busy with other things,
Have a relaxing weekend

Hope you’re enjoying a restful weekend
Went to Lincoln yesterday, can’t believe how steep steep hill actually is, made even harder as most of it is cobbled, lovely sunny day & everywhere was really busy
I’ve decided that getting the MODY results really doesn’t matter (beta cells don’t get the message to release the insulin), I’m sure I’ve got it
If I do anything in the morning requiring insulin(shower, any form of exercise) b/s goes up, take the gliclazide & eat & it drops, libre graph look like a mountain range
But, if I get up have a cup of tea, mooch around at home, have the gliclazide,(this flicks the switch to release insulin) have a cooked breakfast then shower I don’t get the peaks & troughs, b/s easily stays within targets & don’t feel sick & dizzy, can then exercise later in the day
average b/g yesterday according to libre was 6.1, get the same outcome every time I do this
Downside I’m awake early & like to exercise before work, too tired at night, if I didn’t have to go to work could control b/s so much easier, maybe I need to buy a lottery ticket
Going to go for a run later & going to garden centre
Enjoy the rest of the weekend

That's a really good average BG level. I get it though, really annoying that you can't exercise at the times that suit you. But you know what? You've got the will power to change up you routines and squeeze things in around your work at different times. It might mean changing the workouts a little but you will find a way. And hopefully the consultant can suggest ways to help structure things to help too. You're in great shape .. and you will stay in great shape! It is in your nature to workout the best that you can. If that means shorter workouts spread out here and there so be it. One reason I like kettlebells and bodyweight so much is that it makes the time spent on keeping in shape much more manageable for me and my schedule around work and family. It'll workout mate, you'll see, you'll make it work.:)

Strapped for time yesterday so did Tri-sets to be more time efficient. It was really enjoyable and more intense for the whole body. Will do this more often I think.

Want to get into the garden this afternoon on the bag for a MMA workout. Feels like I have oodles of time as I don't have to keep feeding hungry growing daughter every couple of hours! :p

No pt this morning (no trainer) so going to do a short weights workout at home after breakfast
There’s a way to go to the gym in the morning before work just need to find it, might be that I carry on as I am as can’t drive when blood sugar is going down quickly, where’s there’s a will there’s a way
Have a good day

Have a great day!

Blood test results are in.

Good news
HbA1c is 40, so I am now officially not in the diabetic range anymore.

Best news is on cholesterol and triglycerides
HDL (the good one) is almost unchanged by statins and still high but in a good range
LDL (the bad one) has gone down by 70% and is well within good levels
Total cholesterol levels also down by 50% and in a good range
Total Cholesterol to HDL ratio down by 50%
Triglycerides also now well below dangerous levels

There are some side effects from the statins but I'll happy take those in return for the reduction in bad numbers. My triglycerides and LDL were crazy high before and not fixable by diet. I was not expecting such a small dose to be so effective for my high numbers.

I will happily stick to the current regimen of diet + exercise + statins. I worry a little that too many people that might benefit, dismiss statins as being of any real benefit and refuse to take them. But you have to know how to interpret your numbers and your risks. I think GPs could do a better job of explaining what the figures from the tests are really markers for, it isn't about LDL cholesterol or triglyceride levels and ratios themselves, it is about what they allow you to infer about the kind of lipo-proteins you have transporting that stuff around in your blood. If you have the wrong kind your risks go up and statins are really worth taking. It is more complicated than most realise, and family history matters big time. My HbA1c is a bit higher due to the statins than it would be without them, but I'm happy with the trade off in getting the improved blood lipid results.

I hope your results come soon and you can get a good discussion with your consultant based on those results.
