Fasting Blood Sugar this morning + yesterday's food AND physical activity

I give up
Rubbish workout
Mug of tea b4 workout
Protein shake after
Had my not therauptic dose of gliclazide, which can’t possibly do anything apparently
Breakfast black coffee 2 slices soughdough toast, butter, marmite, whole avocado & 2 poached eggs
Hour later feel sick & dizzy b/s 4.5
Really fed up

Oh my word!
That's so tough to deal with. So sorry to hear that mate, I really am.
That gliclazide is really opening the flood gates for insulin from your pancreas!
Can you call your consultant's secretary? .. get the consultant to let you know what they are doing?
I know they all vary a bit, but we do that with my mum's rheumatology/arthritis consultant when she's really suffering and she always gets back to us when she can on the phone.
Hang in there .. hope your BGs settle soon my friend. Take care.
Sending you positive vibes for what its worth .. hang in there

Thanks
If I don’t hear anything bin the next couple of weeks I’ll ring. my DSN, consultants here aren’t based at one hospital they travel round to different ones
Been told it’s up to me if I take the gliclazide or not as it can’t make any difference & im not allowed to hypo
Hope you’ve had a better day than me

Man oh man .. I'm really sorry you've had such a bad day. Hang in there, tomorrow is another day.
I hope the consultant arranges your genetic testing for MODY soon.
Personally, I'd call the DSN just to see if she can chase things up. She sounded like a good one.
In the meantime have you spotted a pattern on the type or timing of exercise that causes the huge spikes in BG that perhaps you could avoid for now?
Hope tomorrow is a much better day for you.

Good morning
Thank you for the kind words, having a protein shake last thing reduces the rise by a couple of points but makes it fall even lower, exercise in the morning causes it but improves glucose control for the rest of the day catch 22
Ironically according to the internet the first line of treatment for MODY is the same as I’m taking

You're an inspiration Debbie, doing all the right things to stay healthy.
Your diet and exercise are so on point! I hope they can find a way to keep you away from those post med near-hypos.

Hope you have a good day today.

Great FBG ad usual
Admire how you just get on with it without ever moaning,
100 push-ups again impressive
Thinking you may have a chocolate addiction,
1 or 2 hot chocolates are more than enough for me
I try with the diet & exercise, sometimes works out, other times it doesn’t, just have to keep persevering
Working from home today, got candles lit, totally not stressed
Enjoy your day

:p definite chocolate addiction!! Growing up, mum worked at a chocolate factory!!! Can you imagine the goodies we used to get at home?!! It's a good job my sister and I were both very sporty and active!! Football, rugby, athletics, martial arts .. always on the go! I'm so lucky that artificial sweeteners are now so good that you can make really decent sugar free desserts, high in protein. Otherwise I would really feel the pain of avoiding chocolate :nailbiting:

I consider myself lucky mate. Understanding of diabetes and its management has really advanced, I probably had it for a decade or so looking back at the clues now. But thankfully there are options now to keep healthier for longer, to keep my BGs under control and also to manage my cholesterol. It all comes with some side effects and consequences but over all I'm going to make the best of it. Be there for my daughter as she grows and for my mother as she is getting old, it is what life is all about. I'm really lucky that as a straight forward T2, I don't have to worry about hypos. I'm sure they would get to me if I did. But if I had to go down the metformin or the injected insulin route to maintain more control, I'd do it, whatever works. I'm used to seeing some members of my family with T1 control the condition with injected insulin. The whole process is just much easier than it used to be. I met my cousin from the states recently, he has T1. We had a pub lunch together. He monitors his BG with a continuous monitor, alarm goes off on his phone and he'll inject the appropriate amount of insulin with a discrete pen injector. He can do it through his shirt there and then and then carry on as normal. The ones that keep a good diet and lifestyle as well are in great shape. I've also seen a few that refused to manage it well and they suffered awful consequences. So I'm grateful, I have it much easier. Be as healthy as possible for as long as possible, father time wins in the end but we can make the best of what we have. Your BG management, diet and exercise is going to keep you healthy and massively reduce the risk of diabetes associated complications. Great for you and your family. Most admirable.

Have a great day working from home today :):)

You’re an inspiration too, you just keep going,
it’s really hard when I exercise & watch what I eat & still not healthy, when everyone else around me can just do what they want & still healthier than me, even my mum who has no health problems (has broke both hips previously)

Wow fantastic FBG & great workout
Can’t imagine that much chocolate, as kids we had pick & mix once a week & my brother nicked half of mine & a selection box at Christmas, probably why I’ve still not got a sweet tooth
Have a good day

You're doing great Debbie. We'll both just keep each other going mate.
It really does feel strange sometimes eating and following a more restricted lifestyle in some ways compared to everyone else.
I know what you mean, even my mum can eat whatever she likes bless her. I can't even grab a quick sandwich for lunch LOL. Man I miss those roast chicken and avocado sandwiches in a crusty baguette! But I'm getting used to it, and now I am not eating anything at all after 7 PM, keeping my carbs and pure energy intake reasonably low. It's doing me good in the long term. But when I make the meals for my mum and daughter and don't get to eat it, it just feels so weird.

Remember your HbA1C is good, means your average glucose levels are really good over the long term, and your insulin levels are in a good range too as you're not insulin resistant. AND you have abs! :)

Call that DSN, find out what's happening with your genetic testing for MODY.

Have a lovely day. And thanks for keeping on posting. It keeps me going too!
I'll be listening to 90s indy music today while writing a boring document on capturing essential data during railway asset maintenance. Oh joy! Once this tooth situation is completely healed I'll start going to those French speaking meet up sessions.

PS mouth getting better, another week and I think it'll be 100% normal again

Treadmill being believed this Friday
Your work day sounds very boring
Soon be the weekend
LOL it is soooooooo boring!! I thought I hated meetings .. but no .. I hate writing this document more :writer:
Reading peoples reviews of it will be even more scintillating ... NOT! :p
