Hi all type2 diabetic for 6 years my hb1ac levels have always been in range my latest one was 49. Been diagnosed with breakthrough retnotherapy on my eye screening and now on a routine blood test they think I may have a fatty liver am waiting on a routine ultrasound appointment. Has anyone else been diagnosed with this and what did you do to try and improve it.

Same as I did to keep my blood sugars in range: Low carb dieting. How have you kept your numbers in range these past 6 years?

The usual advice if you are not already doing so is to have a low-carb diet. Have you had a full lipids screen with your blood tests to check your cholesterol ratios?

Hi, do you do any fasting, or could you maybe lower the usual amount of carbs to see if your numbers improve just a tad? Just having a very late breakfast can help I found x

I think most type 2 if properly scanned would be shown to have a decent level of fat in the liver. Liver fat is made by the liver in the liver mostly from glucose, fructose and alcohol, so the quickest way to get to work on it is to stop or severely limit eating or drinking some or all of those things.

I had been diagnosed with fatty liver before my diabetes diagnosis. After a year of low carb and eating more (unprocessed) fats my liver was fine. Still not sure my GP believes it as he is anti what he insists on calling low carb/high fat rather than low carb, but I've seen the scan - I was being screened for research for people with fatty liver and excluded after the initial scan.

Modern society especially in some countries are finding that this link that is usually held about alcohol and your liver, doesn't apply. Because most of the people they are finding for a fatty liver, is in fact NAFL. And it's more apparent in countries where alcohol is not easily accessible.
The thought that dietary advice is still the eat well plate and the number of people getting liver problems and fatty liver is growing.
Too much carbs and sugar causes inflammation of your organs which directly affect to liver problems but also T2 in a lot of cases. This is also one of the reasons why insulin resistance occurs.
So fasting, going very low carb, higher natural fats, and fresh food.
It works and is sustainable, and your results will improve.
