First 7 Day Fast COMPLETED!!

Just found this thread while looking for something else. Great results thus far and your profile results look superb, so well done to you for all your hard work; you deserve to succeed & I'm sure you will.

Best of luck

Going out shortly so posting my completion of Day 3 results now:

First thing I'm excited about - Yvonne took me to the Next clothing sale today and bought me 2 pairs of 28" waist jeans and they fit great. 18 years old since I had a 28" waist. Now I'm 54. She's taken a pic which I'll post Saturday evening upon completion of Day 7, so you can compare Kev in 2012 and Kev in 2016.

Can you tell me what the advantage of doing a 7 day fast is, it sounds far to extreme to me and it does not sound right for elderly people to do it. I am both elderly and skinny and just missing a days meals can mean I loose weight 7 days and I would disappear.

You still with us @KevinPotts - how is it going?

Still with you @PenfoldAPD:). Day 4, the furthest I've previously been so I know i can get through today. Beyond... We shall see.

Now in 28" waist trousers, so must have hit my body mass target, which will be more accurately measured than I can do, next Thursday....D Day:)

I think that based on your personal circumstances, I would NOT recommend any fasting without medical discussion and support.

I think from my best understanding of the literature and doctor, that these longer fasts, have the potential to trigger greater insulin sensitivity.

So for me my regime is:

- Every day about 18 hr fast from 7pm to 1-2pm the following day, with just lunch and dinner and supplement drink first thing.

- once a month a 4 day fast

- once a quarter a 7 day fast...providing I manage this.

I am very insulin resistant and so incorporation of fasting as a staged, regular process, is aimed at improving my insulin sensitivity:)

I'm on day 5 of a completely unplanned fast, I've got Salmonella (I think, still awaiting the test results from the doc). So fasting apart from a mug of home made bone broth. Actually, I think I could do this when I'm well! Interesting! Well done Kevin.

Completion of Day 4 results:

(BTW in case you are wondering how I collect daily data, I use a Withings Cardio Body set of scales, Pulse O2 fit bit, GlucoRX and SD Code Free for BG and On.Call for blood Ketones)

BG 5.0

Ketones: 0.9

BP: 116/74

Fat Mass: 16.2%

Weight: 11st 1lbs

BPM 64

Next report FBG tomorrow morning:)

Thoughts just over half way through; pleased generally, (Wght, Fat, Ket, BPM), BG is slower to respond than anticipated.

Did you test last night before bed Kevin? I know maybe not relevant to your fast but I like to compare techniques to help others.

No for this 7 day just do FBG at 7am and full tests at 7pm, makes the numbers and memory easier for me:)

Times are approx within 30 mins either side:)

Good luck with the fasting, the numbers are so fascinating to see!
