Hello all, last night I started feeling very disoriented, very drowsy etc upon testing my BG the result was 3.8. Up until then since testing my BG had never gone below 18, after taking glucose and some carbs mt BG rose back to 12.2 and I started to feel a lot better. My question is, do these major sinkings in BG happen to others and is there any particular reason for it? I am type 1 only one week diagnosed and on insulin 13 units twice a day.

Your help would be welcome

Hypo's happen when you've taken too much insulin for the food you've eaten.

Hypo's are, very basically, the result of a medication overdose. No medication, no hypos (but high BG!)

You need to talk to your DSN/doctor and ask their advice about adjusting the dose (possibly timing)
What insulin are you using?
Sounds like a mixed insulin (twice a day). If so you will find it works best with meals that have a consistent amount of carbs . If you eat too few or too many for the dose then you will go too high or low.
As you have only just been diagnosed you may also find your insulin needs dropping /being unpredicatable for a while.
