High blood sugar

Thank you all for your replies and advice, I've started on my antibiotic this afternoon, blood sugar at lunchtime after 2 boiled eggs and a piece of wholemeal toast was 12.2. Had a very big almost carb free (but not fat free!) dinner tonight, tested after 2 hours and bloods are 8.6, I know that's still quite high but it's the first time they've been in single figures in 5 days. So I think the low carb is helping, and hopefully when the antibiotics kick in it'll improve more. I definitely want to speak to DN again to though as I just don't think the sitagliptin they have me on now is enough to manage this. I can't take Metformin but surely there's something else I can try.

I'm sure the DN will come up with some other alternatives should you need it, sounds like the low carb evening meal helped a lot :) single digits must be a huge relief.

If infection will keep fingers crossed antibiotics will clear that up too nicely don't hestitate to contact the gp if still not ok after treatment finishes. which one did they give prescribe anyway? presuming something relatively broadspectrum

Yes, it was a huge relief to see single digits after that meal, it was my test meal because any time I've had it my bloods have been really good, sometimes even decreasing from pre meal readings, so if it had still been very high I would have been really concerned. The antibiotics they've put me on are Trimethoprim, pharmacist says they are quite strong and fast acting so I'll see how it goes and if the readings are still too high next week it'll be an emergency GP appt. Thanks again for your replies. I'll keep you updated with how it goes.
