High sugar levels AGAIN feeling upset :(

@lcarter -- you are due a test please:D

going to make a coffee ( black) while i wait.....................

18.0!!!

All I have had is two cups of tea with sweetener. Very strong tea as I don't like milk.

Morning, how are you today? Any good news on your numbers ? I have had to take a lot more Insulin as well, could be the Christmas period but It has been more lately.
I hope Nikki and IIya are okay.Just seen your post, oh that's so frustrating for you :( but just keep on doing what you have been doing to get them down at a better level x

Oh bo**ocks !

so have you just taken a correction but no breakfast ?? i would get something in you and a bolus for it as soon as .....
but most importantly keep your chin up -- we will vanquish these high BG's

Cooking an omelette as we speak...... I corrected at 8am. Just having a cheese omelette. . Do I need to bolus?

Many of us see a rise in bg levels if we don't eat breakfast, you body needs energy in the morning and if you don't provide it your liver will provide it from its glycogen stores, try and eat something on a morning, even if it just contains 20g of carbs, it makes all the difference and is more easily managed when it comes to bolusing.

I tried doing the same one Sunday morning, with no Insulin ( no actual carbs), but my BS shot up :(

RRB x

Im having a slice of white bread with it (no brown in!) Which has 17.7g in it. I will take 2 units to 10g. So 4 units rounded up.

well actually i do bolus for an omelette (many on here may not though )
on a 15.7 fasting BG at 7:35 and a 5u correction at 8am and an 18.0 at 9:03am -- i would take a bolus with the omelette of another 5u.
I can't actually explain the science as it is trial and error that i have learned about my body over many years.
again with it being early in the day and as long as you keep testing .......

you should have had your split dose lantus as well ?? 10 u ??

ok so toast as well !!!! tricked me there a bit -- LOL
so 17.7 CHO x 2.5 per 10CHO = 4.42 so round up please to 5 ( and i would add another 3-4 for the omelette too)

So bolus for the omelette (is that for protein?) Never bolused for an omelette before..

right now your BG's are not behaving at all
i have done the bolusing for an omelette dozens and dozens of times in the past year or so
say a fasting 5.7 bg for me and a 3 egg cheese omelette will see a 1 hour post meal of 6.4 and a 2 hour of 5.9 typically - i do make sure to test often on an omelette though to be safe

i would never have bolused for protein 10 years ago but the more i learn from other peoples experience and trial and error on my own body i do find it works

i always split my dose with an indian meal because of the high fat too.

@lcarter there's a lady on another forum who worked out that she needed to bolus for eggs as if they were 4 carbs each. I find that as well. So just a guide for you to think about. :) Like many others eating protein only tends to leave me needing a lot more insulin than a meal with carb content.

seen it --
perhaps a quick walk 20 minutes or so might stimulate something on lowering you.
Thats true. Over christmas I've barely moved and my blood sugars haven't been under 8 (usually I keep them below 8) and now they're up at 15 for no reason. Going to have a little walk as it does really help

I know most are saying to leave a 3rd day before adjusting basal another unit. I wouldn't at these levels it is clearthat the 2 unit increase was not enough.
