Can anyone tell me if hot weather can raise blood sugar? This morning 8.9! Nothing different food wise and not feeling poorly .... .Not a good night ... too hot.... bloods usually in 6s.past 2 days 6.8 and 7 and then the whopper today.
A warm night or two raises my FBG above my normal range, but not by all that much.
Unfortunately, folk with type 2 diabetes often report trouble sleeping and uncomfortably hot conditions tend to make matters worse. Lack of sleep is a form of stress and the added strain may well lead to higher FBG readings. Any measures you can take to ensure a good night's rest tonight are well worth doing.
We all perspire more than we realise overnight, especially in hot weather, so the glucose in our bloodstream becomes a little more concentrated. That can disrupt the delicate balance that we work so hard to achieve, so make sure you have plenty to drink.
