Hello everyone. I have just joined. I am a 63-year-old mum to two daughters and grandma to five. I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in November 2022 so am still getting to grips with everything involved. I am not taking any meds so trying to keep to a good diet but finding it hard as I am absolutely ravenous the whole time. My last blood test (November 2022) showed that I was at 45, whereas previous ones in 2020 and 2021 were 53 and 48, so I do feel that I am borderline. I find I am constantly exhausted despite not doing much. My situation is complicated by the fact that I have severe arthritis in my hip (also less severe elsewhere in my body such as toes and fingers), as well as a degenerating lumbar spine, so I find walking very difficult and hence exercising a real problem. I recently attended a DESMOND course which was helpful and interesting. I'm hoping this group will be able to answer any questions I have. This thread will hopefully let us to get to know one another better and allow us to see which users we might share similarities with. I've listed a set of questions below that you can answer to tell us more about yourself. By no means do you have to answer all of them, and if you feel like adding further information, feel free.

Hello Mark, and welcome!Hi everyone. I'm Mark. 49 year old Irishman, living in England. Originally from Dublin, but now living in North Herts.
Just got my Type 2 diagnosis on May 25th, so I'm still reeling a bit, but determined to approach it positively.
Married - with 2 teenage daughters, so life is very calm and serene at home! Our 3 cats are pretty chill though.
Big fan of most sports, particularly football (Spurs) & rugby (Leinster). Love cinema, live music, and cooking.
I work for a small charity as a volunteer manager, which has been my area of expertise for some time now.
Really hoping to use this diagnosis as an opportunity to lose weight, get healthy and maybe reverse the condition.
