Introduce Yourself: Answer Some Personal Questions

Hi,
I have had type 1 for 15 years and I now have Long Covid. I have had some success in amelioration symptoms through a paleo ketogenic diet - from being bedbound I've been able to get downstairs- but am experiencing insulin resistance in the pm up until 1.30am. It means I can't eat carbs or protein from midday and I'm quite scared by it. Has any one got any experience or understanding of this please?
 
Psst.... If the metformin issues persist for more than two weeks, after which they really should have stopped, you might want to request the slow release version from your doc. And always make sure you do NOT take it on an empty stomach, that makes it worse.

I took it for 3, almost 4 weeks, was severely dehydrated and s****ing blood. It's not worth it, and detrimental to your health when persisting, when there are other options and alternatives to try. (Metformin SR, a diet change, other medications...) "Plain" Metformin isn't the be-all-end-all. Just get in touch with your GP if it doesn't get better with two weeks eh. Quality of life matters.

I'm sorry to hear you're struggling.
You posted your question in a long thread where members introduce themselves, where it will likely be drowned by new introductory posts.

What about starting a new thread with your question? It will be much more visible, and replies won't be hidden between unrelated posts.

Have you tried adjusting your insulin to carbs ratio in the afternoon?
Are you pre-bolusing or do you bolus shortly before eating?
It could be you need more basal in the aftenoons as well, but I'm not a pump user so I don't have experience with different basal profiles throughout the day.

I hope you'll find a solution!

My husband and adult son both have type 2 diabetes. I am overweight.
Diabetes runs in my husband's family so we are pretty sure it's genetic.
My husband has managed to control his with diet and exercise , but my son needs help.
As I do most of the cooking in the house, so I need more help with healthy ideas that will benefit all of us.

I'm a 60 year old female, I live in North Wales. I haven't got a formal religion that I follow more try to be a kind caring person, if I can help you I will.
Mmm 3 words private, if I tell you anything it is of no importance to me! Secondly brutally honest so dont bother bullshiting me cos I will call you out. Third word would be excessively polite, so if you're bullshiting me cos you're mentally challenged I probably will cut you a break! That was more complicated than I thought it would be!

I have a lovely collie her name is Boo guess what's that short for! Definitely Microsoft cos my husband elects what we use and he says Microsoft best I cant use a screen for long as I have debilitating ocular migraines so really don't care!

I used to have horses but 6 years ago had to make the hard decision, due to extensive health issues to euthanise my last 2 elderly horses. So I enjoy listening to tele, cos I cant watch due to migraines, that's my new hobby, sad innit!

Born with infinite patience unless animal cruelty involved, so rarely angry.

Small tattoo on the top of my right chest, it's a lovely rose, I probably would have had many more but too painful, I wanted a herd of horses galloping along the edge of my foot but knew I couldn't take it. Ears pierced and somewhere else is all I'm saying.

This is hard like everything from dance, electric to garage and grunge. I also love certain operas and classical pieces really a very catholic taste. I'm hypnotised by drumming and could listen to that for hours.

Favourite flag would have to be the Welsh flag followed by Jack himself!

Yes to camping, being in love with husband and fake tan!

I used to work as a podiatrist but illness forced me to stop, so my degree was in podiatric medicine. Remember people moisturise your feet and lower legs daily!

I'm at peace with the universe.

Having a body which is allergic to nearly everything, well it sometimes feels that way!
