Welcome to the forum. I'm a Type 2 in remission due to Low Carb way of eating, so little knowledge of insulin.Hi. Just joined today. Been Type 2 for over 20 years though managed to control it through exercise and diet for many years. Went into hospital in October 2019 for an unrelated procedure and ended up spending 3 months there often on a life support machine. The hospital put me on insulin to control my diabetes. That worked well for two years when my blood sugars went out of control and I was injecting enormous doses in an attempt to stabilise them. The local diabetic centre gave me the libre free style sensors to monitor levels more frequently. I'm now on 140 units of long lasting insulin and three lots of 40 units of rapid. I'm still having problems regulating my levels which rise and fall suddenly for no apparent reason. I've bought into the carbs and cals app which so far indicate I'm following a low carbohydrate diet.
When in hospital I lost 7 stone but since being on insulin I've gained 10 stone which has meant I'm now obese with a very large belly. I get to the gym 3 times a week in an effort to reduce this.
Any advice forum members can give would be greatly appreciated.
