Type 1 Is it diabetes related?

I suffered a really nasty fall Wednesday morning, hitting the ground really hard, bouncing off the concrete and then landing really hard again (knocked my shoe right off) my right hip to my right knee is so painful that I can not walk properly.

My only concern is, both my feet are really swollen, (I think my left foot had been swollen for a little while, which may be the reason I fell) but since the fall they've been getting bigger and more numbness and tingly. Went to minor injuries (nothing they can do... "not allowed to do X-rays on hips/legs or feet" apparently), I can not get to the hospital, and don't fancy wasting NHS's money on an ambulance!

Can anyone let me know if it's diabetes related? No, I don't have good control, never have, so I don't need a lecture. I'm not stating my BG levels either because some people on here like to have a moan at me for it! (Don't take that personally!)

I've added a pic below. IMG_3120.jpg

Could you see or phone your gp, they maybe able to refer you for an x-ray and arrange a patient transport service to attend an appointment for you rather than using emergency ambulance and going to a&e.

That sounds like an excellent idea.

Could be diabetic related, could be something else altogether. Either way, it needs to be checked out.

Have they gone up since (or just before) your accident? Illness will raise your levels and if you go into DKA you won't just be costing the NHS an ambulance you'll also be costing them a few days in intensive care.

Hope you feel better soon. Good luck.

I'd suggest getting someone to take you to the doctors or a hospital. Diabetes does play a role, it may or may not be aggravating your situation but it's best to get a medical opinion. I hope you get better soon.

You need to get to the hospital/Doctors and get x-rays done!!! It could just be all bruised and sprained or you can break things in a fall. That's what happened to me last year, so it's important to get checked out. Plus those feet looked at. If the swelling had started before, whether the fall caused part of it, you need to be checked out on that too!

Hello @Alex_B Sorry to hear about your fall, that does look like it needs an X-Ray so please get it looked at, best to do it sooner rather than later, please let us know how you get ?

No broken bones. No one knows the cause of the swollen feet. Pain is now subsiding so just the foot problem mostly. Really hard to keep them elevated due to EPI and running to the toilet every hour! Don't know what to do. Got doctors again Monday, so I'm gonna ask how to reduce the swelling. Must be some tablet or something that works!
