HpprKM, I kept bursting into tears on/off all day long thinking of what you are going through, thinking of the times when we lost our beloved furry babies, pets are family, they grow into our hearts.
Anyone who has ever had a pet will know what you are going through right now BIG, BIG HUGS

Of course you can never replace your Tillie, but you have so much love and warmth to give, it would be a crying shame if you decided against having another special little friend in your life.

Holding you, just let those tears flow freely, you need to let go of the emotions, and it will get better with every day, you will always have fond memories and know that you did the absolute best for Tillie, she knew that alright, she was a clever little soul.

Kathleen,

Keep writing, that and crying will allow your emotions to flow, and eventually healing to begin. I am a doggy person, but I can so feel your pain. The heartbreak in each post. You must allow yourself to go through all the stages of grief, and at your own pace. Time is a great healer, as much of a cliche as that is, it's true.

Like Whiby Jet mentioned, with so much love inside of one person it would be heartbreaking and such a shame, if at some point you didn't have another furry friend. There are so many babies who need a very special someone. It's not something to think of now, while your heart is so raw, but for the future.

My love and thoughts are with you - Joanna xx

Kind, kind people I will probably let another furry animal into my life one day. I love all animals, I had a dog and my family home had a dog. My daughter had rescue greyhound and a gentler soul you never met. Cats I really understand and tend, if we are lucky, to live longer, my son cat Maggie recently passed away at 15 and my cousin had her cat, Sweetie for 19 years, sadly Tillie didn't grow old, but she did not live to suffer much and vet advised to let her go this week, she could not keep food down and was essentially beginning to starve, she wanted food so sad to see, I tried endless types of special food to no avail. But I do miss her she usually came to look for food around this time and then sat up with me, I miss her furry warmth and soft nose. She loved me to rub between her nose and eyes, wished I had thought of that when I said goodbye.

When that happens try and replace it with a happy memory instead.
A few more miserable days wouldn;t have helped either of you, honestly xx

Picture her at her best and most happy. The tears will still fall, but with a smile on your face. xxx

Want to just add a bit of an amusing tale - Tillie was a very smart cat, knew lots of words including 'sit down. My daughter had her when we go away and told
me Tillie would not settle at night. I told her that I nearly always stroked Tillie saying 'night night Tillie'. My daughter tried this and said it worked - it seemed to be her cue that it was time to settle bless her.

Football. Bad manners.
I know how it feels, that you never want to go through this again. You did absolutely right by Tillie. Khan died away from me, at a specialist vet's, and I will never forgive myself. I let him suffer too long.

You will never replace her, but there is now a cat-shaped hole in your life, and when the time is right another furry person will turn up to fill it.

Meanwhile, remember the good times . . . the look of absolute horror on a 14-stone wolfhound's face when a small black cat LEAPS out of the long grass to get him - never touches him of course, all play! It still makes me smile. You will have those memories of Tillie too. Best to cry it all out - don't bottle it up, or you'll make yourself ill.

I don't want another animal - no cat flap, busy road, can't walk far enough to do justice to a dog . . . so why do I still have all the food and water bowls for both?

Lots of hugs

Viv, I has my husband remove Tillie's bowls, could not bear to look at them since eating was the start of her problems. Sitting at breakfast table now, no usual sign of crunching going on, another of Tillies little foibles, for she was an odd little cat, was to sit at the open kitchen door each morning. Would not go out in daylight, only went out for bathroom when it was dark. But loved to look out.
I love the story of your dear cat and the wolfhound. My daughter had a rescue greyhound. Such a sweetie, she has two cats, one if whom is Tilllie's brother, and the cats were the absolute boss over him. Tillie normally timid became top cat when she stayed with my daughter when we went on hols, funny really as her brother was twice her size :).
Well here begins day 2 without my Till, actually stopped crying for now. I have decided to put a new plant in the garden in her memory, for she would manage to summons up courage to sit outside the door, as long as it was open, in the sunshine in Summer and in her way loved the garden. Favourite sleeping place in back bedroom on window sill looking onto garden.

Viv, meant to say that you are so spot on with your 'cat shaped hole' that's what to kee thinking, that she has left a hole in my life. Not that I dont have plenty of people
It, for I do. But she had become such an integral part it who I am.

Awww she sounds like my old Susie. I was working F/T, my Nana was at home with her and was unsteady on her feet so she didnt go out much as We were worrried that Nana would fall trying to get her in. Nana used to worry as there were alot of cats next door and susie was quite timmid. She was a happy little thing and lived for 17 yrs. My cat that we have now, Purdy is a rescue cat and she is out all day ( we live on a farm. ) She loves it such different little cats but with big hearts :)

Shop, your cats sound lovely, I will find it hard without a cat, but keep thinking Tillie so fitted in that I cannot imagine another cat doing so. The not going out was a blessing, no going missing, getting in the road or fighting. I liked that.
