Hi Brunneria
How to bump a message ?

I am a type 1 diabetic. I am following a low carb / keto diet and have been doing so for a while. However, I'm finding that even non starthy veg and protein makes my blood sugar rise. Can anyone tell me how to count protein as carbohydrates so I can adjust my insulin at mealtimes. DAFNE only counts carbs. Many thanks.

I do my correction based on the label information. A lot of protiens don't have a carb count and the protien still produces glucose when digestion. I think it's called glucogenisis (sp?). I am struggling with the same type of issue. It's the reason I joined this forum - to find some answers on dealing with protien and fat influenced glucose levels.

Hi @vmartorello - and welcome to the forum - I noticed your other post also - you may receive more responses if you create a new thread asking for feedback directly on protein and fat, particularly from the other T1 members.
To try to answer directly, it's complicated, because protein creates a different insulin response in T2 compared to protein and fat, and there is some thought that the reason is that without the fat, the liver will turn excess protein into glucose as you say; however, I don't know how this is accounted for in T1 dosing.
