Thank you Andrew and Clay. I slept like a baby last night, and have so much done today. I have to use mornings for mundane things, and then I can juggle both work and play (here) in the afternoons. I have done almost all I set out to this morning, something else that really is improving.

Week 4 shakes ordered, so I am now using this weeks shakes, with a week ahead in the cupboard, and a another week ahead on order. I have also provisionally booked a telephone consultation with my GP should my weight loss be as drastic as last week. Still feeling the cold dreadfully, I don't ever remember feeling so cold. Heating is on full, and I am still cold. This for me is so far the only down side.

Hey there Hope you're doing ok. Me? I couldn't feel better. Even the really unbelievable cold I have been feeling, is not quite as bad. Life is pretty darn good right about now.

I am getting there on my VLCD. Had my first couple of 4s over the last 24 hours which has cheered me up immensely. Went to bed with 4.7 and my fasting reading this morning was 5.1 so if I can keep this up and continue loosing weight I will be one very happy bunny.

I have decided that I will do the ND if/when I plateau with my weight loss in the future so am still avidly reading your progress as I want to see what I will be up against..

Isn't it just the most amazing feeling seeing those 4's? It makes all this so worth while for me. So far no 4's today for me yet, but I have my pre supper reading to take, and since my exercise has started a little late today, fingers crossed I may get one then.

Honestly this diet is fab, no problems at all, but I do know I am heading for another significant weight loss, hence why I have booked a telephone appointment Monday. I don't think it's going to be quite as large a loss as last week, but it's not going to be far off. I may have to cut down to 2 shakes a day, and have a light dinner, or 3 shakes and added veg. I will see what my GP says Monday.

Verdict after day 11

I'm a bit confused at today's readings, no 4's, yet no change in routine. I have had a little less water today, so that could be it. I will up my intake tomorrow. I am sleeping a lot less than I was before, but feeling so much more refreshed when I wake up, and my energy levels do seem to be improving day on day. (London Marathon next week :lol: ). When I am standing up or walking, I can no longer see my stomach, and just the tips of my toes. My waist has really shrunk in what appears to be just a couple of days. While I am sitting at my desk as I am now, my boobs don't invade my space any more either, they seem to have shrunk to a much nicer size, and are no longer heading south. Shoes that I have obviously stretched in the past, are now loose and my feet slide around in them quite a bit (good excuse for a shopping trip, I can't say retail therapy as therapy is coming day by day with my BG levels, and all round feeling of well being). A friend noticed today, my face is much thinner, and has a healthy glow, and my eyes look much brighter. I actually do own some cheekbones, and ribs :***:

Negatives.

I have had moderate pain in one of my shoulders today, it is arthritic pain, but I have been in so little pain recently, this has been a bit hurty. Also a twinge between my shoulder blades. Neither are debilitating like they would once have been, but enough to give me jolt once or twice.

Hmm, not really sure where to start with this. I am getting very despondent and frustrated with my figures. I was getting some 4's, now I am getting none. I feel I am trying so hard, yet my body isn't playing ball. I think due to this, I am also feeling like I want to eat food again. I am now completely at a loss how to bring my figures down. I wanted to come of my morning Metformin on Monday, but now feel this is perhaps not a good idea, that said I really don't know what is a good idea! My weight is dropping, and I was certain with that my BG would as well - not so! I know loads of people would love 5's across the board, so feel a bit guilty whining I can't get them lower, but it's how I feel. Each time I test I hope to see a 4, and am wondering if I am stressing myself into the 5 bracket? If that is the case, then it's a vicious circle I know I must break, again no idea how to!

In myself I feel great, aches and pains easier, walking much improved, energy levels through the roof, sleeping much sounder and waking much more refreshed. I feel so much happier with myself, and my life, apart from the BG numbers.

I have no one I can turn to for advice, as friends and family although 110% supportive, just can't grasp the obsession I have with BG numbers. They have seen them come down since I began the ND so can't understand why I feel the frustration I do. My GP will also say, that I have good figures, so why worry? The problem is I do, and I am.

I understand it's still early day's. tomorrow and then Sunday, takes me to two weeks, but that's not quick enough. I don't think I would have felt like this had I not had 4's, but I have and I can't change that, and the resulting despondency. I can't go lower calorie or cut out a shake as I know that will lead to trouble, and as each shake is due, I am hungry and ready for it. In two weeks I want to add veg, I need to have solid food again, but am now wondering if for me, it may have to be 8 weeks pure liquid diet. The truth be told I am not sure I could do that. The need and the anticipation for real food is there, and I am looking forward to it. I am relieved it's only two more weeks to food.

I don't know, I need to think about this, and see what I come up with. I would also love opinions on what people make of this so far, and suggestions as to why I am no longer getting the lower readings. I have thought until I had my head unscrewing it's self, so maybe idea's from others will be something I have not thought of, that will push my body into lower levels.

Help - what do I do?

Also... I read back what I had written above, and my sheer bloody mindedness kicked in big time. I whopped up the speed on the treadmill and walked a solid 15 minutes. I will NOT let this **** thing defeat me, it just isn't an option. I am shaking, sweating, but I feel good. It just shows if I stop being a lazy c*w and do the exercise I should be, I will get my fours. Bl**dy good kick up the ass, do the work I am supposed to = results. Serves me right for being lazy!!

I know all of you are right of course, as I said I know people would be thrilled with 5's, and I do feel bad for whining. It's me, I know it is. I am never going to be happy. This condition really has scared me, probably more than anything else in my life. I really am terrified of what could happen.

Frank, the cold is unreal, my hands, feet, all over. If I were a canine I would certainly be in the healthy bracket, even my poor nose is cold. Like you, I have a thick heavy winter duvet, and then on top a thinner padded comforter. It takes ages to get warm even then. Last year this time, my bedroom window was open 24 hours a day, and remained that way until October. This year I still have my thick winter curtains up! It's not fun!

Now it's funny you should mention thyroid. I have a list of questions I want to talk to my GP about, thyroid being one. Had I known my GP was doing the diabetic clinic a week yesterday, I would have taken the list, but I wrongly assumed it would be a nurse, and unable to answer the questions I have. I do plan to see my GP soon, so will raise it then.

I do find when I exercise I warm up, and stay warm for a short time, so am using this to shift my lazy behind and get moving.

One hour 10 minutes treadmill, but speed increased quite a lot, to a speed I have never attempted before until last night, so a very, very hard day's exercise.

Verdict after day 12

I have now proven to myself at least, exercise is key to this. You want good figures, you have to work for them it's that simple. I'm not going to try to pretend today has been easy, but I know day on day, it will be. As I saw the 4's pile up, I think a switch in my brain that has told me, a couch potato is something I will never be again. I want to do well, so I have to work. No pain no gain as they say. I know me well enough to know, the absolute determination that kicked in when I read yesterday's post back, will push me forward. I am exceptionally determined, and I want this so badly. If I sit back and am a lazy c*w I am going to get nowhere, that for me is not an option.

Brilliant day today, and at least 10 more minutes exercise to come, as it's not long since I had my supper shake, and I want a session of exercise in before I take my +2 reading.

Thanks for this Frank. Luckily I have a brilliant GP so am very optimistic he will agree to test. I will let you know what happens once I have seen him. I am due an HbA1c at the end of the month, and he likes to discuss the results about a week later, so hopefully pretty soon.
