Needle clippers - anyone use them and if so for what?

Diet drinks - the artificial sweeteners taste vile.
Having to forswear foods I have loved all my life.
Trying to find low carb meals when eating out.
I've just seen a reference to needle clippers in relation to lancets but I'm having trouble researching.

So far it seems that needle clippers are an alternative to a sharps bin for injection needles.
Clip the needle off and it is dropped into the body of the clipper.
[I do wonder about the clipped end which may still be quite fine and potentially stabby.]

Do they also work with lancets?

Why would you use them instead of a sharps bin?

I can't see why you'd need them for lancets, as the whole point is to reduce the volume of sharps waste required by syringes. I have a vague memory of using them with syringes, I guess you could use them for pen needles too?

That's what is confusing me.

I was given needle clippers when first diagnosed but after scratching my hand a few times on a clipped needle, I stopped. The clipper cannot completely remove the needle (or lancet) - it may leave less than a millimetre but that is enough to scratch yourself on - so why bother?

Mountain out of mole hill makers ,queues , crowds , shopping on a Saturday hmm just shopping I guess no matter what day it is
I use to use them many years ago but I don’t think the lancet needle fits in the needle clip , well I’m sure it never use to, as far as clipping needles now I use a pen so the needle goes back in the holder it comes in

Liquorice and aniseed (especially the tracer I have to drink in hospital before a CT scan - yuk!)
I used one on lancets for about 2 weeks before it broke! Probably was intended for (thinner) needles.

It was a faff, so I didn’t replace it!
