Newcastle diet starting Monday, done it once who gonna join me on my journey??

It is all here in the programme @TyTy.
http://www.ncl.ac.uk/magres/research/diabetes/documents/StudyRecipes.pdf

Drink - 3 litre of water or calorie-free beverages each day.

Hi just before i started the diet, did anyone eat in between the shakes !!

i read about that on top of the shakes you can still have up to 200cals of vegetables , is this correct

It's all in the link @TyTy and there are some recipes for the vegetables.

The pdf doc that catherine has posted has all the details of what veggies you can have. Not a lot of them.
I used stw too.

Day 38 - Home again. Fasting blood 6.2. No more weight loss - been on a plateau for 5 days now. Hope it all starts moving in the right direction again soon - feel I am running out of time.

Just checked every thing for my 3 week milestone and updated my signature box. Total weight loss 19lbs (8.6Kgs), BP dropped from 140+/85+ to regular 116/74, blood glucose averages falling. All in all, very pleased with myself to date.

I have a pre-planned hotel "afternoon tea" on the shores of Windermere with my wife on Saturday and intend to enjoy the offerings, but I will closely monitor the BG readings afterwards before resuming the strict regime. I know I had some quite big spikes before starting the ND, so it might be interesting to see how the numbers go for the sort of food I wouldn't have given a second thought to a month ago.

Rob

When I varied the diet for social reasons (on that one occasion) I had really acute stomach cramps. Not pleasant. Not suggesting you don't enjoy yourself - but be aware there may be some discomfort. (Not enough to put me off though!)

Thanks for the "heads-up" Steve.

It's some sanwiches & cakes and the other half insists we take some cakes home for young son, who is having an overnight camp with Beavers nearby, so hopefully not OTT too much.

Rob, I see that your a week ahead of me this is my second week on the ND, BP is basically the same as you, BG is levelled out in the 6s on waking, from 12 to 13, and I've lost 12 lbs, so very happy with the progress, gonna be a long old slog, but knew that from the other 500+ posts

Hi Wildrover

Let us know when your clothes no longer fit - that was when I really noticed the difference (apart from no longer feeling lethargic)

It is so strange that on such a low calorie diet we start feeling so much more energetic. One problem I had on my ND was I could not do as much exercise I wished I had done as I am on antibiotics for what the doctor describes as ingrown toe nail infection, but today for the first time in 8 weeks I feel i have the freedom to eat anything but just not interested. My day began with water like it was happening since last few days and I am still good on it, I will have my shake at 12ish which is when I take my first shake all the time and see if i can go for a long 4 mile walk and then have soup which is sort of leftover from what I made, I think I have enough soup till friday and on saturday I plan to eat some egg and bacon and sausage if I can as at the moment a bowl full of soup just fills me up to no end.
I am so pleased with my decision to go ahead with this diet and hoping I have some positive changes which I will report.
All the best guys who are still on it, its a jouney we all dread to begin with but believe me, now that I am off it I sort of miss it as it so becomes a part of your life and best the ease of it to not make and plan for food :)

Cheers @brettsa. One other thing is the drop in food bills when shopping at the moment too!

Looking forward to moving on to LCHF regime at the end as I did "do Atkins" & quite liked it several years ago - I do like my meat.

Well I think its not really a drop if you see as I used STW which costs about a pound a shake so thats 3 pounds a day
Is it cheap? I would argue coz its not real food but gives you all the nutrients nevertheless but yes I want meat I am craving for it but I dont want to eat it just yet as I am sure the stomach is not ready yet, I plan to have omlette tonight with mushrooms and some bacon and will see how it goes both BG wise and stomach wise too more importantly.

Thanks guys, if it wasn't for people like you, @Steve50, @Glitterbritches, @geordie90, To name but a few, I would never have had the courage to even contemplate this journey, having been lurking on this site for over a year, ..... I only stumbled onto this thread by accident, Great thread, Great insight,

What's really a great incentive is monitoring my BG levels since being on this diet. From being all over the place prior to starting on 23rd April, the very rapid reduction over the following days to a nice regular band of readings:

Who says that self-monitoring type 2 is a waste of time, money & effort?

Well worth monitoring Rob - I think the day to day stats can be a bit off putting if you have a rise in your readings or a plateau in weight loss - but when you can see your progress in the longer term - such as your graph above - it puts it all into perspective. I might be disappointed with my morning reading of 6.2 - but 40 days ago it was consistently >10. (and I was 22kg heavier!) You are making great progress Rob. :)
