Or women of menopausal age (more so) can have BV. Often mistaken for thrush etc...and last of all thoughts from a gp who won't even suggest it or test for it!!! Its never talked about...

There is no evidence to suggest that the bacteria causing BV can affect male sexual partners.

There are also a number of other factors that can increase your risk of developing BV, including using scented soaps or bubble baths, having an intrauterine device (IUD) fitted and using vaginal deodorant. BV is more common in women who use a coil for contraception and those who perform vaginal douching (cleaning out the vagina).

What leads to these changes in the levels of bacteria is not clear. BV is not classified as a sexually transmitted infection (STI),

Gp's and women can (self) diagnose thrush when actually it isn't.

BV is rarely mentioned anywhere, but as aged 49... Just be aware that menopause can also be a factor if it's not thrush and is BV....

On the other hand if your levels are higher than should be.. Well this can certainly be impacting too.

Men are strange animals really.. But then humans are.. Aren't we the only living organism that has sex for enjoyment rather than just to reproduce?

Well it is Friday night ..... :)

That's a book for me then and some late night reading..

How needs change lol x

What is BV?

Hi and thanks for the info. Ref the thrush, this is often caused by high blood sugar so is yours under control?
Hiya Daibell, I have benn put on Forxiga 10mg and it dumps the sugar through our pee thats why we get thrush and or urine infection so its not really high sugar readings causing it, personally it helps my readings so much i can get used to the thrush. Take care...smile..xxx

Lack of sex drive is not limited to women. Men with DM have it too. What remedies are there?

Oh I'm sorry Malik I have no book to reccomend to you but surely a wee read at that bok i reccommended might be useful to men too as it is all about outecouse not intercourse! stimulation of the outer areas around your male fun parts i would say are similar to a woman.....and a wiling partner who aims to see you smile ; )...take care...smile...xxx

Hi Fairiesue - are you treating the thrush or just putting up with it? My GP recently suggested I tried the Forxiga but because of high sugars most of this year my DSN did not advise it - also I have been having thrush (vaginal and oral) on and off this year and on the last swab test I also had a bacterial infection called Staphylococcus Aureus and am just wondering if that is the same as someone has mentioned earlier in this thread as BV??

Have your sugars come down much on this drug? I am so absolutely fed up with my body's frailty I seem to be going round and round in a tight vicious circle so at present my focus has to be my high bloods so have increased my insulin and now the weight is piling on and I am seriously wondering about the Forxiga. My recent bloods are still high but my kidney function is good.

I am also in early days (5) of changing my anti-depressants so it is difficult to try and change too many things at once but I am afraid I get very discouraged.

Any advice encouragement gratefully received ;);)

Hi Jude, i use canestan cream morning and night as thats when its at its worst. High sugar levels is the exact reason I was put on Forxiga (9-17 when testing) so I should think anyone should now be put on it as its been great....morning test was between 6-8 so i was very happy.
Im sorry for anyone having the insulin thats putting their weight up as mine has come down so well and I use Levemir 30 units.
I came down my citalopram 4 months ago 40mg to 30mg but I have been very low recently and as i recently found out stress is our worst enemy so I am fighting the sugar again.
Keep smiling Jude it will get sorted for the better i hope and you will be on here telling us how well you are doing. Frailty is our poor body and mind gettin fed up with these problems and we can only do so much on our own nurses and docs are the ones with the knowledge of meds for us and if someones getting a good med then push for your turn to try it....take care...smile...xxx
