- Spicy food which is too hot. Nasty people who have no idea on your life journey but feel the need to comment and be cruel.
I totally agree with everything you have ranted about.Just had the Diabetes nurse ring me. Said I had done very well and didn't need Metformin anymore. Blood results so good.
Yes I know.... it is taking a lot of hard work says I....
She said it isn't all diet and hoped I was exercising.... I said have you seen me lately!!!!!!
Explained I was still using my gutter frame and needed the car to get off the hill into town (up the hill) all one way down.
Then she asked me what I was eating and told me what I needed to eat.... at that point I lost it.
She was quite sweet and didn't lose her cool.
I have to see the Doctor tomorrow afternoon about something else..... am likely to still be fuming.
I have known for a long time what I can and can't eat, irrespective of what they want us to eat. Yes would love to eat three fruits a day but that is what partly put me in the zone to start off with.
Apologies and hoping you are not getting unwanted advice......
Thanks you have just cheered me up. I agree wholeheartedlyI totally agree with everything you have ranted about.
Never mind, our diabetes are different.
How we got here is different.
Our dietary requirements are different.
Our tastes are different.
Our intolerance are different.
Our lifestyles are different.
Sometimes you wonder if it is the text book or the NICE recommendations that are the issues rather than treating the patient.
What works for me, might not work for you.
Even though we have the same diagnosis!
Aaaaaaggggghhhhh!
See what you have done now @filly
Nobody knows your condition, lifestyle, challenges better than you - least of all a practice nurse who has to take care of many people and only has a limited set of tools and knowledge.Just had the Diabetes nurse ring me. Chance would be a fine thing! I had blood tests last week, 6 months on from my previous round of tests. Hba1c down to 29, puts me in remission, plus improved results across the board. Within normal ranges on every result now, which is a drastic change to 10 months ago.hoping you are not getting unwanted advice......
I aim to please. Thanks you have just cheered me up. I agree wholeheartedly
That's THE word.indifferent
Well done to you as well. Wow 29 is an amazing number.Stand your ground, @filly! Give no quarter!
Well done for not being dictated to. It never ceases to amaze me as to the approach taken by some DN's, peddling their nonsense despite evidence to the contrary being right before their eyes.

So, you might wonder, what did my DN say about this? Nothing. Absolute silence. I still haven't heard from her 9 days later. It annoyed me for the first few days, then I had a mental breakthrough and the rage subsided instantly - their advice has been zero help so far, literally nothing they've said has been useful or shaped my approach. I've done it all off my own back, with the help of this forum, so why even bother giving them a second thought?
Anyway, keep up the great work and be proud of your achievements, Filly!
Better indoors but completely dodgy outside without it. Doesn't help that the pavements and roads etc are dreadful. Oh and electric scooters going uphill when it is a one way downhill road. That's THE word.

I stopped following what I was told was 'good' for me
(It wasn't)
Lost over 3 stone, lipids all moved into excellent or ideal, and went from 57 HBA1c to 40 HBA1c in just over 6 months
Surgery sent a " well done" via text at result.
And a total of '0' seconds asking how I did it..
Can only assume all type 2's at my surgery had similar results ..
Well done @filly ....
On Great results and ignoring the 'advice'.
Hug for the gutter frame .
Spend 3 months on a gutter crutch .
Hope it's not needed for long.
I have been diabetic for 15 years and had a diabetic nurse trying to lecture me and tell me I can’t have sugar in my tea the 2/3 cups I have I said listen who are you the food police I am well aware what I should and should not eat I don’t need you or anyone else to tell me I am not one for a lot of sweet stuff and cake and stuff but last week it was my granddaughter birthday and I had a piece of her cake I will eat the odd thing like that so don’t even try to say and can’t eat this and that she was very apologetic and said well I need to tell you I said no you don’t need to tell me you can suggest things and I appreciate it’s your job but don’t u realise I know what I am doing subject closedJust had the Diabetes nurse ring me. How bad is it that I'm glad you at least weren't told, like I was, that you didn't have the spine for a diet?Just had the Diabetes nurse ring me. Said I had done very well and didn't need Metformin anymore. Blood results so good.

AZ Covid left me feeling awful, a bit of pain, just problems functioning. I spent a few days in my Husband's specialist riser recliner chair while his carers did all the looking after him and got me drinks too. Sending sympathy for that problem.@filly You could always show off and have cucumber, courgette, aubergine, tomato, sweet pepper, avocado, as they are fruits but low carb.
Unfortunately most HCPs seem clueless about the care and feeding of Humans.
I trundle around on my mobility scooter these days as there is nowhere nice to walk in the immediate area around our house, but I can take myself off to the beach or one of several parks I could get to, but not back again unless it was a very good day. I would not want to be bored. If my feet or knees are bad, I can still get about. I seem to be either in the process of getting better or with some niggling pain that needs to be watched all the time these days - due to the AZ Covid jab rather than diabetes, but at least it is just a nuisance now, not a reason to make my will.
And so you shouldSorry for the problems you're having @carolm I'd have thought the osteoporosis nurse specialist should have written to your gp re change of calcium. My diabetes nurse always does if I have to contact her between seeing the consultant.
Many people just take what the dr gives them without question, and I think a lot of hcps now expect us all to do the same, but I'm like you and do question things.
You have done brilliantly so pat yourself on the back for that. A friend of mine did no exercise whatso ever when she was diagnosed just low carb and her numbers improved. Everyone is different. The dn was probably reading from a scriptJust had the Diabetes nurse ring me. Said I had done very well and didn't need Metformin anymore. Blood results so good.
