Here it is @Pipp , it's about the same size as an egg and it changes colour from the outside when it gets hot. So you simply throw it in the pot with your eggs and you can see how far they are done.

I couldn't boil an egg without one either. I'm hopelessly impatient.

I dream of cheesecake!

I make low carb/keto cheesecake, never made the Japanese one though as it’s too involved, couldn’t be bothered lol

I will stand and cook all day long but baking and pastry not interested

When I did my City & Guilds in catering many many years ago cookery, bakery & pastry were different disciplines and specialisms - like my old lecturer used to say cookery is an art baking & pastry is a science - and I don’t do science lol

I did! But that was from a very, very dear friend, not an employer. (So I thought I wasn't allowed to count that one).

Those truffles were especially memorable. For the short while they survived, haha.

In my neck of the woods, tenants give Christmas hampers too, as a token of their appreciation. Time to drop a hint to your neighbours in the trailer, perhaps?

A dozen quail's eggs
My extra-special home-made Nordic bread (and somebody to make it the night before).
Preserved apricots or peaches in brandy.
Assorted liqueur-filled dark chocolates with positively no sugar crust.

Oooh, there's a possibility, not a thing in the Netherlands!
But knowing my neighbour, it would likely be filled with gross stuff by way of a joke... Think perfectly low carb dead rats and the likes.
Not sure if I dare take the risk.

Mine would be:

2) A bottle of Remy Martin XO.

3) A stinky French cheese, one strong enough that it repels my wife and children from the fridge, thereby ensuring I don't have them raiding the meats!

4) A framed photo of my children to remember them by, for when my wife divorces me and my children flee the house forever, due to the stinky French cheese.

5) A whole serano ham, complete with the little wooden stand.

6) A lifetime supply of Hotel Chocolat 85% chocolate batons.

A rib of local grass-fed beef - oh, just a minute, we are actually having that!
A bottle of good brandy, cognac or Armagnac
A biiiig tub of double cream for coffees
A wild salmon tail big enough for two (I'm generous like that)
A New Forest cheese called Stoney Cross - a whole one. None of this prissying about with slices!

My hamper would be things from Xmas from when my parents were still here, from my childhood, so not low carb at all!
1) Ginger wine
2) Dad’s home made Xmas pudding
3) Mum’s homemade Xmas cake
4) A Tunis cake, don’t seem to be able to get them anymore (picture below)
5) My dad in a Xmas hat from a cracker, proudly sharpening his carving knife
6) My mum in her apron proudly bringing the turkey and all the trimmings to the table

I assume that the aim is to list things that you wouldn't buy yourself during the year, so it is all a treat?
[We live a very indulgent life, which can be a problem when you can buy anything on the shelves.]

1) Rib of beef (I think nearly all UK beef is grass fed).
2) Bottle of XO brandy (I can't bring myself to spend another £100 or so (checked Waitrose price and £85 for Remy Martin XO - dang, that is 35cl) over the VSOP) Hmmm...Black Friday it is £135 at Amazon...£175 at the Whisky Exchange...Nah, too expensive.
3) A really, really low carb cheesecake.
4) The rest of the hamper would be empty because of all the thigs I can't/shouldn't eat.
5) Oh, a Waitrose lamb half shoulder. Because there is no way I'm paying almost £20 for something about the same size as a beef burger. Grrr.... Guess who has been to Waitrose this week.....
