Oh Dear! I'm not even sure if I'm pre diabetic now. The highest I've had more that twice of my fasting blood sugar is 5.6. But I have stopped out the things I suspected they were the cause. And also cut down my carbs a little. Xx
I now only measure, if I think I have overdone something or pnce per week. My normal BGL settled at between 4 and 5.3. Fasting was my key as well as cutting out all processed sugar as much as is absolutely possible. Fasting is easy.Oh Dear! I'm not even sure if I'm pre diabetic now. Well done! You obviously deserve your excellent numbers.I now only measure, if I think I have overdone something or pnce per week. My normal BGL settled at between 4 and 5.3. Fasting was my key as well as cutting out all processed sugar as much as is absolutely possible. Fasting is easy.
How often do you fast, and what type of diet do you eat when not fasting?I now only measure, if I think I have overdone something or pnce per week. My normal BGL settled at between 4 and 5.3. Thank you. A little late I know. Sorry.Well done! You obviously deserve your excellent numbers.
Hi Nabilla. I fast on a daily 16/8 basis. I have a muesli mix I put together myself for breakfast with 150ml Full Fat Milk. 25g Fat, 40 Carbs (9 Natural sugars) and 30g Protein. 10g dietary Fiber. At 10amHow often do you fast, and what type of diet do you eat when not fasting?
Don't let yourself be pushed into leaving out that which you like. That does not help. If you have those readings, why were you initially diagnosed as pre diabetic?Hi! Brand new here. Been ignoring ‘Pre-Diabetes’ for 10 months but this wonderful mine of information has me taking it seriously now.
First ever readings taken today with a shiny new monitor.
Fasting 4.3
2 Hours Later 5.5
I think those are decent numbers, but realise and it’s just a snapshot and the bigger picture will come from a blood test at the GP which I’ll have to arrange.
Is that what you eat when your fasting or when you're not fasting?Hi Nabilla. I fast on a daily 16/8 basis. I have a muesli mix I put together myself for breakfast with 150ml Full Fat Milk. 25g Fat, 40 Carbs (9 Natural sugars) and 30g Protein. 10g dietary Fiber. At 10am
I will have a hogh protein meal after sport for lunch of a can of Tuna, a pack of low fat Mozarella and a small avacado, that's 70g Protein 25g Fat and 2 carbs. No sugars. At 2pm Then in the evening at 6pm anything that I feel I can manage with the least carbs as possible.
Don't let carbs scare you if you can fast daily. I have bow also started a 3 day fast per month. The body's in built fear of hunger is the only hurdle. A rip is psyllium husks in a mix of water and cream. Keep it below 50 calories and the body will not feel it and stay in ketosis after 12 hours. By the 48 hour point you are in autophagyvand you are producing new stem cells to basically reboot your immune system. I feel awesome. I measured on Friday. I was on 4.8.
However I now only see a diabetologist once per year. I'm transplanted so have blood checks every 3 months. My average HbA1c for June 23 to June 24 is 5 0. It is considered normal. Too many people let themselves get led by fear. I am in control. Not the diabetologist. That is thr difference. So I have the odd bag of crisps. I have rice or potatoes or pasta. Just not too much and reheated before use. Just one tip I found out for myself. My Dietician never told me about lots of things I now know.
That is what is eaten in the 8 hours cycle. The 16 hours for me are between 6pm and 10am. All I drink is fennel and aniseed tea with powdered liquorice root as a sweetener. In a 72 hour fasting, I drink predominantly water. But thr same teas as above atr OK. I also have a 1 Liter per day mix of distilled water with a teaspoon of bicarbonate and a half teaspoon of celtic sea salt and drink that in my 8 hours. The trick to stave off hunger pangs is a tablespoon of the psyllium husks in 250ml of water. Let it turn to a light jelly then drink it all down. It fills the stomach. I only need it mostly on thr second day and only once. Do light exercise too.Is that what you eat when your fasting or when you're not fasting?
Hi there @Ktea52 your Libre, assuming you are using the CGM sensor, can read lower when your blood sugars go below the general accepted average blood sugar levels, (4.5 - 7.5 mmol/s. ) When our blood sugars are reading low on a CGM most of us cross check with a prick test. A reading of 3 mmol/ls may actually be around 4. There is an allowable accuracy of 15% +/-. I would certainly check those readings against a glucometer.Interesting to see this thread. Between 12.30am yesterday night and 7.30 am this morning my blood sugar levels were around 3mmol (slightly above or below). I am new to all this (prediabetes) and had a Libra I was given a while ago that had been left in a drawer… I realise now I don’t know what the reading means other there’s a long red line on the graph… which I am assuming isn’t good
Thank you… to answer your question I attach a screen shot - it was low for much of the night (I went to bed at about 11pm) . I have been waking in the night and finding it difficult to go back to sleep and I’m wondering if low blood sugar maybe contributing. I shall definitely follow your advice and check it with a glucometer. Thank you for taking the time to reply and your sending me your thought.Hi there @Ktea52 your Libre, assuming you are using the CGM sensor, can read lower when your blood sugars go below the general accepted average blood sugar levels, (4.5 - 7.5 mmol/s. ) When our blood sugars are reading low on a CGM most of us cross check with a prick test. How long did your CGM read low for, if you don’t mind me asking? Blood sugars can go low for many reasons. For instance If you eat high carbs in the evening, you can get what they call a reactive low. This means that the pancreas over produces insulin in the second phase insulin release taking your sugars low. This can sometimes affect your blood sugars a number of hours later. Your liver will usually correct this low and dump glucose to bring blood sugar back up. Blood sugars are tightly controlled between the pancreas and your liver. In short both those organs talk to one another.
Mid 3’s in a person who is not on insulin or taking blood sugar lowering drugs in general is nothing to worry about as long as you are not showing symptoms of low blood sugar, sweating, headache, feelings of panic or disorientation. I am a person who has unstable blood sugars and I can go low. My advice to you would be to cross check your Libre CGM readings with a glucometer. Your glucometer readings are the readings you should go by. If they are still low, you might want to look at your diet or speak to your Dr.
