Regular moderate exercise log

Legs for me today, a decent warm up then sets of single leg extensions and curls, and it felt odd but I did 6 sets with each leg, not too heavy, then bog standard squats to 110kg x 6 and 3 sets of front squats just to 50kg then I jumped on the leg press machine to do some one legged press sets and one legged calf raises.

Still quite fun this single side lifting :)

A little nearer where I want to be today. 45 mins exercise bike about 9.00. Overall 13K steps including one hour+ walk about 15 mins after the cycle and a little session of weights 8x10x3. All gentle/low level to see impact on the back. I did do 3 sets of 10 weighted squats - only 10kg but steady does it for now.

Mmm... not impressed with the achy neck all day, but that might've been a combination of sleeping too well (I don't move around in my sleep when I'm sleeping well) and today's additional heavy backpack rather than just last night's march uphill.

Also totally unimpressed with the 3.4 I landed on after finishing today's steps off after supper Meh. didn't need that extra unit after all. Think I've got a dodgy Novorapid pen at the moment as it's mis-clicking. I know I visually check as well listen to the clicks, but I'm inclined to trust the clicks more - and I'm just not hearing them. (No, my hearing's fine - just trust my students' views on that matter.) It's slowly coming back up again...

Reasonable amount of exercise today but bgs stayed pretty high all day annoyingly.
15 mins exercise bike before breakfast.
45 min walk to hospital rather than the bus after breakfast, but got the bus home as I was chatting to a couple of friends who were getting on it.
1 hr rehab gym class this afternoon.
14k steps in total.
Will try to make myself do 10 mins core exercise before bed - that does seem to help fbgs.

Saturday shoulders, bad start to the day with bloods, having moved my basal insulin forward 10 hours, but eventually I dropped under 8 so went to the gym, standard warm up then kettle bells again, dumb bell press, front and side raises and face pulls :p and that was my lot.

Pleased I got it in...

I must be honest I haven't been swimming for a few weeks as I've had so much to do for kids and Mr ickihun. I'm looking after my carers as they are struggling with me and my son's needs.
My op cannot come soon enough. I hope I start feeling better quickly. I know it can take a year for things to settle down but we are desperate for some support so my week has been filled with form filling and setting up support for our main carer (Mr ickihun) and some reprieve for big brother to the little man. All looking good and back to see some very useful people on Thursday, who are located next to a beautiful, peaceful park. Picnic thoughts are now on my mind.
So no swimming but loads of walking due to 2 appointments per day, most days.
On Monday morning I'm being weighed for op sign off.

The basic outline of the day was how I want things to go just not the full level yet. 30 mins exercise bike from 7.10 - well into cardio level. 75 min walk before lunch - pace may not be great but HR up into 130s for a good part of it due to wind and my quirky biomechanics. 30 reps of 7 exercises before evening meal - gentle weights.

Decided to try and set up fit it in time for kids week off and pre-op so I have some comparative figures to work off.
Would do tonight but shattered and active autistic 5yr old has me all on edge. He's now decided to watch clips on his tablet. As 'water babies' movie not interesting enough. Dinner wasn't good enough nor cereal which has now ended up on the rug upside down. He wasn't angry he just tipped cereal bowl with choc milk contents over his bear legs. We have to just grin and bear it. The poor washing machine is really taking a hammering.
He's much more tidier if he's been outdoors all day. I needed a rest today so he's been home all day. No one takes him out, except me. Unless he's at school. Mr ickihun has been doing majority of school runs as my pain relief isn't as good lately.
I honestly thought the more active, less pain but.... nope. Just need more painkillers so I can move more.

I'm not sure I should be pleased about the amount of walking I've done the last two days, most of it has been walking off sheer temper and low moods. But, considering the weather, it's an achievement that I've done my target numbers all this week.

Tried to ride 20 miles or an hour on the trainer today. Got to 17 miles in 48 minutes and was done. Just didn’t have enough in the tank. Maybe the speed i was putting down was too much to go the distance.

Will setup the experiment and try again tomorrow.

I am swimming tomorrow (after yoga) , and will do extra lengths for you.

This is a thread where those of us who are not Ironman-ready or triathletes or any other kind of sports superstar can log our more moderate achievements and encourage each other.

I was a very keen sportswoman when I was younger but have really let it slide and these days all I want to do is make my exercise more regular. I have also spoken to/messaged other women on this forum who have similar intentions but we are a bit overawed by our (wonderful, and mostly male) diabetic overachievers. My own exercise habits go in fits and starts, so I plan to log all my moderate boring stuff here in the hope that writing it down will make me do it more often.

First of all: today I walked briskly for approximately 90 minutes!
:)
Exercise, today. Hmmm. Well first the XBX programme, (level 8) works the whole body, incuding the heart. 12 minutes in the morning. Later brisk walk to town, probably took a little longer than usual as was carrying stuff for charity shop and books for library. Walking uphill into the wind as well. Brisk walk home about 20 mins. Wind had changed, so still walking into it. Late afternoon, cut the grass. Used a borrowed hover mower, but it didn't hover, so was actually hard work, sadly results not good either.

How are all your injuries?

All of my broken skin is healed closed. The bone doctor says everything looks good on the inside. In terms of pain, I still have a lot. We had a cold snap and it felt like I was learning to walk again. For the cold snap we’re experiencing this weekend, I was given a much stronger pain pill. I slept like a rock without any aches, but struggled to get my legs moving this morning- head fog and my legs were just weird.

My big toenail has started to grow back.

So after a month I’m mending. Thank you for asking! I’d really like to put a bike out on the road!

My TT bike is still out for frame x-rays to see if it’s salvageable.

@Jollymon I've just learnt of your accident. You are healing well.
I understand your walking difficulty. Has your back been checked for any trapped nerves?

Considering all you have been through you are incredibly upbeat. Hope the recovery continues and allows you to resume your , clearly, beloved cycling.
