Regular moderate exercise log

So do I! Have to wait until the end of June for that!

Your dumbbells story reminded me of a friend of mine who over enthusiastically bought a pair that were heavier than she bargained for and had to carry them home individually from the shop!

Haha yes, that would have been worse!

@Goonergal take care of that foot - hope doctor offers solution

Doctor agreed that I have a bunnionette (it’s a small version of a bunion on the opposite side of the foot), which despite being covered with a blister plaster somehow managed to develop an open wound on top. Referral to MSK and podiatrist. Former will take 3 months and latter only available as I have diabetes and will take 6 weeks. Already have a MSK appointment in April for my hand, but apparently can’t look at foot at the same time :banghead: In the meantime I’ll just have to be guided by pain/discomfort.

Probably going to be popping in here soon as I just found out our offices have a full gym 4 floors down so guess who has no more excuses?

Also @Goonergal I really hope you can get it all sorted out because that sounds like absolutely dire service.

Welcome to the thread, @Caeseji ! In theory, I have no excuse to avoid my workplace gym, but in practice...

@Goonergal hope the foot gets sorted soon. I'm just about back to where I was with walking before the Achilles trouble started, it's been well worth taking it slowly, being guided by the pain/discomfort as well as being remarkably diligent about the various exercises.

I would show off that I walked 4 miles with the full shopping trolley today, but as it was full of small, empty boxes, most of the time I forgot the trolley was there! I've just been back out for another hour, which felt like more as it was cold, windy and I was too close to being uncomfortably low for the last mile home. I need to remember to adjust that walk to doing the hilly bit first and the flatter bit last, but my feet went on automatic "Let's get this done and get home" mode before I remembered I was going to go anti-clockwise!

12k steps with just under 1/2 struggling with Gareth walking the dogs. Plenty to check on the patient so satisfied with that. Was going to do some home gym but hard to tell how much of the cold feeling was not eating and how much was same bug as patient.

@Japes one of my favorite walk times is full dark. In the summer, that’s the only time besides dawn that it’s cool (“cool”) enough to walk!
@DJC3 hurray on the skipping! And do you have a resource for learning tai chi- I think I need the calmness.
Ew @Goonergal foot sores! I have been dealing with that since late November. My podiatrist told me that my problem was nothing serious and I should soak in epsom salts 30 min a day, and wear bandaids if they felt good and wear whatever shoes felt good. I hope yours is as simple! Epsom salt soaks never hurt anyone anyway, and this really helped me. Glad you do have access to a podiatrist. Kinda makes me willing to pay US system fees to be able to Call The Specialist Direct and see them in just a few days.
You GO @johnpol !!!!
@ianpspurs who walks whom, eh? I hope you don’t catch the crud, there is quite enough of it going around anyway. I am in the middle of using my neti pot- a quart of salty water every night cleans them germs right outta my sinuses!
2 short fast walks today, one of them towing a 30 lb rolly suitcase, the other to try to make it to the coffee shop before closing. I did! Was successful in not eating lunch, and wasn’t hungry while walking - something I never in a million years thought I would say.
Happy days, everybody!

Getting to the coffee shop before closing is the sort of incentive I can relate to! Well done on making it. Pleased for you about the hunger issues.

Just shy of 10k steps but that included quite a lot of stairs so I reckon it’s worth more.
2 sets of exercises with my hand weights, morning and evening.
It was really windy here too @ianpspurs I was out wearing a ridiculous old mac which is about 3 sizes too big and acted like a sail - I was being buffeted all over the place.

@DJC3 thanks! Sounds perfect :)
@isnpspurs ain’t that the way with the wind, though!
Wow @Emma_369 , just, wow!!!
A wonderful 3 mile fast walk at 5:00. 5 hours later I’m afraid I have the flu. Yes I got the shot and apparently it was pretty effective this tear but I am not feeling the least bit effective. Haven’t been sick in Three Years, when I had bronchitis, pneumonia, and oh yeah you did test positive for the flu. I can’t help thinking I caught this because I mentioned my massive neti pot use somewhere here.... <eyeroll>

Well no training as such, was a technique session with my friend (who is also one of the best coaches in the business) as I seem to have forgotten how to squat efficiently. Never in the history of squatting has 70kg felt so heavy!! But I do believe that with his help I have got it back, it may not be as heavy as I want but at least I should be comfortable and not in as much pain as I have been. Onwards and upwards.

Take care everyone.

Oh no @zauberflote - it’s so often the way when there is an important event coming up, we come down with the lurgy. Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago when I went to visit the family of my dearly departed brother. Was so looking forward to seeing them all but I came down with something similar and felt rough the whole time. Air travel has a lot to answer for though with these respiratory illnesses. Hope you can still get some enjoyment out of your trip. Well done for the 3 mile fast walk.

@johnpol I am happy to think of you in less pain!!! And working with your coach must even have been a welcome distraction from the same old same old training.
I agree with you @DJC3 about the air travel, and I guess my charmed run of that is over. For two years ending last October, I flew to see my mom monthly. I developed a routine of wearing a mask on the plane, mostly to keep the airways dry. It served double purpose, for which I’m thankful.
Exercise today is apt to be driving into the nearby town to buy a chicken to make broth. We are supposed to go see a movie en masse this afternoon; I’m interested but will have to see.
