Sandals.....

Seems pointless wearing sandals if your gonna wear socks! I wear flip flops, sandals and bare feet in the house and garden!

had to sell my birkenstocks two years ago, my feet got too wide for them from all the running.

Had to sell a load more shoes this year as well.

I just go barefoot around the house and garden, used to go everywhere barefoot but not sure that's such a good idea now even with good foot health.

Lol loved all the above comments.

Have to say I am against socks and sandals, but perhaps one day (when I'm a bit older) I may change my mind....

I live in Fly Flot mules which are very like sandals and Irarely wear socks[ and NEVER tights!] with anything, not even trainers unless I'm hiking. then I wear toe socks. Ifind getting comfortable socks even more difficult than comfortable shoes. My second toes are over a centimetre longer than my great toes and get squashed in normal socks.

The second one was immediately post race, believe me, there was pain.

First one was about two minutes later when I could walk to water butt and dunk myself.

It was a stonkingly hot day and I wore the imprint of that vest for three weeks afterwards

That's what I look like after running to the end of the street..... Minus the smile

Have you heard of that race they run in Death Valley every year? I think it's called the Darth Valley race? Or something like that? - it's a mile long sprint........ dressed up as Darth Vadar!! The temperature at this years race was apparently 121 degrees!!! - I'm very carefully not mentioning it to my Ironman brother, in case he gets any ideas!

PS he wears wellie and shorts a lot and now has a permanent bald patch half way up his shins where the wellies have rubbed the hair away. He's definitely not a socks man!

- after Mo's picture post, can I just say that men - ANY men in a thong is up there and beyond the whole socks and sandals debate!?! No No no no NO!!!!

I'm traumatised.

I agree, people should wear what makes them comfortable... :)

Many thanks for all your interesting replies, both for and against....
Although, to be honest, my main point of posing the question on this forum was to state that IMO using sandals without 'protecting the feet from the effects of the sun,or possibly blisters', could be a risk to someone with diabetes. :?

Kind regards,
Malc.
