can I have a donut too pretty please?

Yes but there's a queue forming

no rush! the rich tea biscuit was pretty unusual... a treat after spending hours in hospital with my Mum (she's fine...just a check up)

I can't have a donut at the moment, will you do me one next week please Steve? I am feeling rather left out just now :(

If you want one you're going to have to give me a bit more info even if its rough weights or how many bits etc. Without that then it really is just a guess :(

Of course you can Jo!

Anyone else who wants one...

Don't mind but can only do it if you give me some idea of quantity. Could be grams of carbs or weight overall or each thing or "1 egg", "2 carrots" that kind of thing. Just saying "I had chicken and peas is not enough" I'm afraid. I am assuming SS Milk and 70% dark chocolate unless you say otherwise and will assume LOW FAT versions of things unless you say otherwise.

When I give you mine it will be down to the last crumb, I measure and weigh everything

Thanks for my donut! Not sure how I got to 195 grams carbs though-can you elucidate? My simple sums say my small dinner days gave 145 grams and big dinner days 165, ignoring wine and snacks. If big/little meals are 50% spread that's 155 plus snack, although I probably have more small than big by two to one. Wine is 5 grams ish but only 3 days a week say, although I confess I ignore that 'cos of alcohol effect, and nuts/cream can't be much. What am I missing? I figured about 160 a day with snacks ex booze. Not that I mind. Like the idea of being a big carby geezer, but can't see past the 160. Was it I didn't give you enough info? How would that change my donut? Do I lose the Jam?

One for Smidge :)

Hope you enjoyed the handful of nuts....

I reasoned

3 Walnuts
12.5g Brazils (can't find per nut)
10 Hazelnuts
5 Almonds

Gave an extra 7g of carbs

Here's what I worked out. All figures came from http://fatsecret.com. If there's a mistake it probably mine but would be good to correct so let me know where you think the problem is.

Columns B,C,D are by unit so amount either per 100g or per thing "apple", "slice" etc

F,G,H are adjusted by how much you said (or I guessed) you ate.

Thanks for mine, Xyzzy. I like the look of it - I might print it out and pin it up on the wall, just to remind me when I feel like straying  .

After tomorrow's blood-letting and my little celebration, I really must make an effort to cut out that d**n alcohol! It would help my household budget, too. Sigh!

Bedtime now - goodnight all!

Thanks for sharing the spreadsheet xyzzy. There will obviously be a lot of little differences as you had to guess quantities, but i won't bother with them. There are a few biggish ones though, so I'd be interested in seeing how they change the donut with the fat make-up etc.:-
B/FAST - my OJ quantity is small, and gives 10 gram carbs only, but shredded wheat I've weighed and checked and gives me 50 gram carbs.

LUNCH - only smallish change, but my "salad" is a couple of leaves with the sarni, and is probably almost no carbs.

DINNER - the sheet shows rice AND veg, I have one or other (or an equivalent) 50% of time. So should probably AVERAGE the rice and veg, or, to get sums the same, halve the quantities of each.

SNACKS - only a small thing, but the choc I have I've weighed and checked and the quantity gives me 4 grams carbs.

As I said, few others but small, and some are pluses and some minuses so average out.
Thanks for the work, and as I said, be grateful for an update? Then I can screen print out my xyzzy donut! And frighten my nurse with my fat.

OK since Viv asked me in another thread about this I worked out yesterdays diet, I would not normally do this as I eat to my meter and never count anything, I just know how much of anything I can eat to keep my bg levels in check and as for non carbs I just eat small portions of pretty much everything. Breakfast and lunch, teas and coffees are pretty much stable, breakfast is sometimes just a slice of toast or poached or scrambled egg on toast and lunch sandwich does vary, sometimes I have cheese or tuna or left over cold cuts from roasts but they are pretty representative of my daily intake. Dinner however can vary considerably so this is just a one day snapshot and should not be used to make assumptions, I just wanted to make that clear.

Finally I have been as accurate as I can and have used my Calorie, Carb and Fat Bible to work out Kcals, carbs, fats and proteins.

.........................................................
KCal......Carbs...........Protein......Fat

Breakfast:
17g Cornflakes.........................................63........14.3.............1.2............2
50ml Semi Skimmed Milk.............................49.........2.5.............1.7.............9

Lunch:
Ham Sandwich (Burgen)..............................363........25..............33.............13
Braeburn apple (small)................................53.........13...............4..............1

Dinner:
Chicken in red wine with green pepper, mushrooms and basmatti rice
Chicken breast........................................215.........1.8.............45.............3.8
1/2 green peper........................................15.........2.6..............8..............3
Mushrooms..............................................20............8.............2.5..............6
Rice.....................................................135........26...............4..............1.8
Red Wine...............................................136..........4...............2.............0

Snacks and other:
4 x Oatie Biscuits.....................................280.........36..............3.6............11.6
Tea & Coffee 3 of each...............................57..........4.5............3................1.5
Red Wine..............................................136............4.............2..............0
Whiskey...............................................112..........0...............0.................0

Total..................................................1634........127.3..........99.2.............34.7

Edited 2 times by $id due to addition errors. I calculated my carbs at 184.1g to start with  Only when I re added it did I see my mistake, also corrected total cals and protein  But I think its right now

3rd edit!!! Just worked out the cals by adding the cals in the fat, protein and carbs and it comes up short?

127.3g carbs x 4 = 509.2
99.2g protein x 4 =396.8
34.7g fat x 9 = 312.3
Total cals = 1218

So whats going on there? Why arent the cals the same as calculated by the bible? STRANGE!!!

So based on 1218 cals:
Carbs = 41%
Prot = 32%
Fat = 25%

But I'm not convinced as I always thought the CC&F Bible was pretty accurate

Grazer your amended doughnut is now posted back on the previous page. Hope its now better!

Hey Sid glad you noticed that as I was about to point it out. What do you reckon? Are you really surviving on 1200 cals / day as that's well into starvation diet territory for a big strapping lad like yourself?

I'll stick it through fatsecret if you want and see if I can spot any differences as like you say it's quite a mystery. It's not perfect but seems good enough to get a rough idea.

Ive no idea xyzzy I did make some huge mistakes but I thought I'd corrected them all as for surviving on 1200 cals a day I have no idea as I said I have never ever counted cals so have no idea what anyone eats let alone me, also as stated I did say that that diet was just a snapshot of one days food intake. I dare say there are other mistakes in there to make such complete calculations of a days intake is actually quite hard even adding in each tea and coffee and every vegetable.

One error would be the dinner contained garlic and onion which I have missed out and I had a medium sized oragange after dinner too which I have not included. Ooops! Although a couple of garlic cloves half an onion and an orange wont make a huge difference it does show how hard I found it to account for every mouthful

Never again
