I replied to a thread about statins made me think about this a bit more and I'm still in the no camp. - the way I see it is this
I chose to stop taking statins free on prescription because of personal choice and chose to spend my own money on supplements to help me lower my cholesterol
Glucose gel is available free on prescription also I believe are glucose tabs - whether both of these are nasty or not is a personal choice - those who prefer to drink lucozade and pay for it are making a choice - which they are free to make just like me - but I wouldn't expect any concession to help me fund my choice and wouldn't expect sugary drinks to have that concession either.
Someone posted a link to a blog on here - sorry can't find who it was - the writer of the blog had worked out if you treated 100 hypos a year that's 2 a week with lucozade IF the tax is passed onto the consumer it would cost an extra £2.48 a year!
