Sick of people ramming IF down my throat

And there was me thinking that the forum was about sharing what has worked for us..as I say in my post people change.. something that may have seemed completely outrageous suddenly can be found quite achievable. We are all n=1 experiments so without knowing what to try how can we expand our knowledge?
The forum, yes. But this whole thread is about @RFSMarch March not wanting any more IF stuff rammed down his throat.

So you haven't tried it while following a low carb way of eating?
The reason I ask it that when I was eating carbage the thought of missing a meal for an hour would have sent me into a meltdown. Since embracing LCHF/Keto I find it easy to go without food for extended periods. It has been a quite unexpected benefit to running on fat.
So situations change as do people ..you often complain about non suitable food being available at the tournaments so to some who are fairly experienced at this an extended fast for a few hours would seem to be a very sensible suggestion until you can get to some more suitable fare.

No I haven't - but here's the thing... I 'complain' about the fact that at a tournament, the only meal I have control over is breakfast. A lot depends on where the tournament is, where I am staying, when I arrive, what the facilities are in the AirBnB. I don't fly with stocks of food and tupperware because it is simply not practical. I don't get back to the digs until the small hours of the morning, wake early to cut audio and video for podcasts to get them out before start of play... I arrive at the media centre early to work in peace and quiet before the rest of the rabble arrive (photogs, I am looking at YOU)!

'Missing meals' happens all the time - if you have put in for a lot of interviews or press conferences then you HAVE to be around for them, you can't just wander off for a bit of a munch because you feel peckish. The issue is what is available. Not every tournament has great options. Indian Wells, for example gives us just $17 on our credentials and most of us have to buy from the same concessions as the great unwashed. The good stuff, salads, grilled chicken, fish... wipes out your card in one go. Unsurprisingly... you can have a hotdog and deep fried rubbish and survive for a day! My plan for this now is a lowish carb ceral bar (I found I relied on these A LOT in Singapore - I was rarely in bed before 3am, the high school over the road played Colonel Bogey at 7:45 to muster the students so I was a zombie after 2 days...!) and also cup soups - talking maybe 10g of carbs for both.

I found when I tried it before (it was 5:2) that because of the freelance and thus variable nature of work, it left me feeling it was hard to concentrate and the quality of my planning and thinking was all over the place... it just was not worth it. I had already lost weight with MFP back in its old fashioned calorie counting and exercise days, so I have just changed my settings a little to carb count more in conjunction with my scans.

With respect - I am not in a position to give it a try again. I appreciate your trying to help, please respect the fact I would rather manage my diet and exercise my way when I am at home, in between shift work to earn a crust, and that I am trying to find solutions that work for me when I am away. I am not going to consider IF again. Ever. End of story.

then SHE can of course ignore me
Why should she have to ignore you, this is exactly the problem she put in her first post, people ramming their mantra down her throat when she doesnt want them to. It appears she cant even start a thread addressing that specific point, without people coming alone, suggesting trying IF differently, when she doesnt want to. On her own thread on the subject. What is wrong with respecting that request and decision?

then SHE can of course ignore me

@RFSMarch is the name you are looking for
I certainly have no intention of ignoring you... but I have no intention of trying IF again. Sorry but I know it does not work for me, so I see no point in wasting my time and effort trying again.

I want to make LCHF a better part of my life as and when I can. If I can, then great. If not, well like IF I tried and couldn't make it work for me. Surely the exercise is to try something for the benefit of bringing my BG DOWN... if I lose a little more weight in the process then great but that is not my over-riding priority at the moment. I had to stabilise my weight at diagnosis because it had dropped sharply. Of COURSE I could do with losing a little more, but in a controlled fashion.

I have already gone through a huge change in my life changing my career in my 40s. I have had to adjust to a LOT of things... the variable, unpredictable nature of freelancing, the endless updates required to my site, keeping up with social media trends and using them... So... I am sorry if my 'complaints' frustrate you - feel free to put me on ignore if I frustrate you.

As my final word.. feel free to ignore if you will...
I get my lowest blood sugars when fasting.. always.
By fasting for a few extra hours each day you avoid causing an insulin response due to ingesting food. This (if your diagnosis of Type 2 is correct) will be of huge benefit to your overworked pancreas. This is the reason IF is recommended NOT for weight loss, although it may help. By eating in a reduced window you have fewer insulin spikes.. fewer glucose spikes so your blood sugar levels will come down. For you it may be inconvenient and feel like it is impossible however it sounds like you are doing it anyway when away from home.. Just maybe think about approaching it in a more positive way. For me (and yes I can only write from my personal experience) as well as reports from quite a few others on this forum it is a great addition to the arsenal when trying to control errant blood sugar levels. Good luck whatever you decide to do.

I made love to the wife 8 times last night and then got up early to go for a jog, came back and we made love again.
Now if I can just find another few guys to join me on this topic it could take off big time:):):)

I would love to join you but I don't know your wife!

Ah! Keyboard warriors and Facebook, what a combo :angelic:
Absolutely!

There should be a banner or some such at the top of every website/social media dealing with health matters (or anything) that states something along the lines of: EVERY BODY IS DIFFERENT. PLEASE RESPECT THIS. I've come across the keyboard warriors before I found this site, a similar experience to @RFSMarch, except in connection with testing. I don't test. Yet. If the second set of blood results says otherwise and LCHF is not working, then that is the next step. There are other steps, like lowering the carbs amount, IF (which I do occasionally) and upping exercise. I fully understand why people test, but I do not want to test until I have the results. My choice. Wow, did that get some stick! If I do have to test, I now know where to come for excellent support and information.

I am genuinely pleased for your success. I am going to find my own path. Please can you respect that at this stage of my life and career I want to find something that works for me? If not then please do me the courtesy of scrolling on by.

Edited to add - I do not eat in a reduced window, either on shifts or at a tournament. I eat when I can fit it in between press or in between breaks staggered so we always have cover on the desk. Failure to do so leaves me lacking concentration and the quality of my content starts to suffer. I know my own body better than you. Please please respect that.

can a mod lock this thread or shall I just delete it because now I feel more depressed than I did before?

It still amazes me. This not feeling hungry, not having the cravings and just having all this energy and yet not needing to eat. It's sort of wrong but it's so liberating and freeing. It's yet another thing that I've learned about how my body works since being diagnosed. It's great that people talk about doing it LCHF/Keto/Fasting because it gave me support to do what my body was telling me. I went low carb first and very quickly I just didn't need to eat for hour and hours/days. If people hadn't been posting here about it then I might have freaked out and forced myself to eat just because I was T2.

I find it so sad that others can't do it, simply because it's the most glorious lifestyle. Sorry folks for going on, sorry that it doesn't work for you. It's got to make getting bgl's under control so much harder.

Don't do this. I think that with your lifestyle you are doing your best to control your bgl's and ONLY YOU know what you can manage to do and what you can't.

Your lifestyle is stressful and difficult with odd hours and all that travelling. None of which help bgl's. At the same time you are trying to test and eat as appropriate a food as you can. Not easy.

Please don't feed depressed about this.

This thread is being locked at the OP's request.

As a final comment I would like to remind everyone to RESPECT other people's choices on both medication and diet.

If you feel a post needs reporting, then please do so, rather than picking fights and haranguing each other on the open forum.

If you have personal disagreements, then take them to PM. If you have differences of opinion that you want to discuss on the open forum, then please do so politely, respectfully, and speaking from personal experience with a view to offering support to each other.
