So bleeping angry with my gp!!!!!!

Email from Practice Manager this morning apologising for error as having discussed with GP can find no reason for omission. New prescription will be available for me to collect in a couple of days.
Perhaps different actions are required at times in order to resolve matters.



Late onset T1, several auto immune issues.
Humalogmix25 twice a day, Methotrexate 25mg once per week, FolicAcid 5mg once per week, prednisolone 5mg daily, Allopurinol 300mg, Calcichew-D3 800iu, Levothyroxine 50mcg, Atenolol 50mg, Losarten 100mg, Aspirin 75mg, Nicorandil 20mg, Nitrolingual GTN spray, Metformin 2000mg, Allimemazine 10mg, Lanzoprazole 30mg, Atorvastatin 20mg, Co Codamol 8/500mg, Depo Medrone (Methylprednisolone) or double Prednisolone for 7 days in case of RA flare.
 

My theory on "too much testing" is as follows: unless you're a masochist, there's no such thing as "testing too much".

Omg,! That's ridiculous that you need a script for strips! If u buy a darn meter why can't you just go buy strips . If your diabetic you should be part of a national scheme that let's you buy them at a discount rate. As many packets and anytime you want,! That how it's done in Australia.

You don't need a prescription in the UK to buy strips, you need a prescription to get free strips.

Make sure ur legal team can advise u correctly about whether u shld move practice now or later...
Also ensure all appointments in the future that you may need to go to at this Practice.. That you have a person with you. Not a relative. Somebody independent from your family etc.

You are not alone. You need courage to do this and a lot of strength of mind. It will not be an easy journey.

Just ensure you have support during the times ahead, not just legal.. But support from people that you can trust.

Pop into any pharmacy - they will sell you as many test strips as you need ( and can afford )

WHY!
If you are T1 and have propped up the NHS for X years why pay at a high markup unless it is a real emergency.
Put your foot down for a fair allocation of strips. (If necessary buy from manufacturer - much cheaper than pharmacy!!)

Quite right if you are T1, but some T2s on here do not appear to understand the NICE guidelines for provision of test strips. I agree that it is anachronistic but we have to follow the rules not make them. It is a tough world, diabetes is a tough life. Let us try to take the heat out of it.

I can't begin to imagine what they have done, but it sounds awful and you are obviously devastated . I'm thinking of you, and hope whatever way you go to resolve this, it goes smoothly and in your favour.

Calamitygayn - if you feel so strongly about this, you could try for an initial consultation with a lawyer to discuss your position, then consider your options. At that consultation, it's worth asking about timing the change of practise.

But, and it's a big but. These things don't come cheaply. A small town solicitor will be charging around £400 an hour for specialist advice, and they can read very slowly! Your Doc is likely to have deeper pockets than you, and he will be supported by his indemnity insurers who will need to be involved at an early stage, to minimise any impact on them.

Legal action of any kind is highly stressful and expensive on any metric you choose to pick; financial, emotional, reputational. Think carefully. It would be a shame to have to walk away from what you feel is already an unfair fight, thousands of pounds lighter in your pocket, and even more mentally and physically drained.

If you find a no-win, no-fee lawyer willing to take this on board, they are likely to be quite sloppy shouldered, unless there is a significant chance of,a decent pay day for them. That's no insult to pro-bono lawyers, just a statement of the commercial world we all live in.

Take very great care. Whilst nothing is more important than your health and well-being, which you feel these historic events have impacted, you have to be sure taking action will not extend or expand the damage already done.

Sometimes, it makes sense to choose your battles, and engage only in the ones you will win. I feel for you.
 
I know its seems a losing battle but im lucky enough to have good legal reps. so am aware of the pitfalls.
they have ruined me. I can't really lose anything else to be fair
 
I have been advised that im just too ill for thIs atm. I am pursuing one avenue though but the case against my gp will, like you say, just add to my stress. I have to rebuild myself, im already finding it hard. The gp in question is basically covering his own back and obviously has no consideration for his patients health and suffering.
I will inform all I know to avoid this surgery at all costs.
I just want to move now....preferably another county, and try to pick myself up@!

hi. I have put in two official complaints. One with the gp and one with the manager of the counsellor. both replied saying its being investigated and my gp wrote to me today asking me to go in for a meeting to try and work out a resolution. I will think about it over the weekend. Thanks for asking xxx
