Sporty Forty.e t

Oh poor @Scandichic Sorry about your disturbed night. Using your wakeful time usefully posting here though! :)

I cherish my solitude too and my beach hut is my sanctuary. Am meeting a friend there today and will take the long route - using 40 steps down to the prom and 40 steps back up!

Yesterday I did 2 x 2.5 miles walks in the heat after dropping my car off in the morning for its first service and then walking back - still in the heat - to collect it in the afternoon

I'm on the road all weekend so today is probably my last chance for any proper execise
That looks like a little piece of heaven!

Tired and a bit anxious. Weird blister come up on big toe by side of nail but wear sandals so can't be shoes and I have to go and get the routine eye test with drops in and I've been told it's not nice! As Gloria Gaynors says, I will survive! Lol! Are you working this weekend or is it driving for fun?

Oh that's understandable. Hope the blister isn't painful. Could it be a bite if you are in open sandals? The eye test is fine. Just stings a bit and soon passes :) Gloria Gaynor - now that's showing our ages!! "At first I was afraid, I was petrified...." You will survive, Gloria. You will!

I have a 24 hour business trip to the Cotswold tomorrow needing an overnight stay. Taking daughter #2 with me as a treat . I can think of worse places to be!

Hope the eye test goes ok and isn't too uncomfortable. Remember, its only temporary. A few choice swear words and its over!! xx

...I was surprised when I saw all your posts where you said you like your exercise to be solitary, thought I must be the only one! Was quite miffed when I bumped into a friend the other day while doing my walk as I just like to get on with it, don't mind at all at other times, what an unsociable bunch we are lol....;)

Au contraire! I think we're all quite a sociable bunch but the walk for me is space. Aside from my walk, I spend my entire day with people. From getting up to going to bed.
Got some me time today. Went for eye tests at hospital. Only took 40 mins to walk there. It nearly finished me off walking back! Total blurry vision and no concept of depth! Came in with massive headache despite sun glasses and blurry vision till mid afternoon! Good news as eyes fine!

Here's some more - these are mostly taken from a moving 4x4 so not the best quality. The basilica is in Yamoussoukro, and is supposedly the biggest Christian church in the world (no I didn't believe it either but Google it - I guess because it's in isolation you can't compare it easily, but the dome is apparently 149 m high). The lake is Lake Kossou (dammed for water supply and hydropower). Yamoussoukro is becoming the new capital of Cote d'Ivoire, bit like Brasilia or Abuja.

Done my 40 minutes( 45 actually go me!) on bike- also cleaned bathroom window for my sins. Not sure what I'll manage tomorrow or Saturday as off to Durham Big meet with junior- never done a day's work in his life but he'll defend your right to work to the death ;-)

I think your son sounds cool. My mum hates talking politics with me too!

sorry not exercise related...enjoy - if that is the right word as I tend to avoid it - the Durham Gala.

I am still doing my hour's dog walk daily and will have to make a big effort to go out during the summer holidays as hubbie tends to do the walking.

I think I'll probably sneak off to the Oriental museum instead or find a coffee shop and read my kindle books. Done it last few years and that is more than enough for me though it is nice to see the pit banners as my family were all miners from the county on my.maternal side. Last year was also special as the cathedral address was given by a lad I was at uni with 27 years ago...

enjoy whatever you end up doing! Our 2 boys are doing a concert in one of the churches so that is our afternoon activity.

Right - I've been very quiet on this thread, I have been mad busy but honestly, each day I have tried to master my sparkly pink hula hoop and STILL can't get more than a couple of wobbly turns before it hits my ankles

It's been fun though, and provides much entertainment for the cats :D
I will not give up ..... I will not be defeated !

Only problem with eye test I have is that I can't drive after due to blurred vision.

HaHa, @Pollylocks I don't see it as unsociable, more that I want to remain focussed and I'm not able to multitask if someone is talking to me. I quite like an aquafit class with other people, but if I am in the pool trying to work out to an individual programme devised for me by physio, and trying to watch the clock for timing etc. I can do without someone appearing alongside me for a chat, especially as I am hard of hearing so need to lip read.

I manage to walk so infrequently that yesterday I was really delighted to get out and try to devise an exercise routine that I could manage without support from someone else. I was in a fairly safe environment, with other half ready to put out a APB if I was out too long, literally 200 yards from cottage. The woman with the dog really did intrude, and was not the most cheerful. Put me off going out this evening in case she appearted again. GRR!
Rant over. I managed a few short walks, only about 15 mins total. Two 20 min Pilates sessions too.

OOPs, yes, I forgot about the headache after, and the blurry vision. Not much fun on sunny day. Sorry @Scandichic. glad eyes are ok.

I recommend the 'invisible hula hoop'. Same workout except you don't need to keep bending to retrieve it from round your feet.
