Error on my end, comp buggy today.Works now, think one of my harddrives just bit the dust
I replaced all my primary HDDs with SSDDs, have had no problems, but I always make monthly off line backups. Computers are fickle work mates, they only seem to do what their smart human masters tell them (or not) to do... :)
Snowing right now, hope there is no shoveling tomorrow morning, heading to sleepyland...

As requested, my recipe for mushroom soup.

Mushrooms 350g (use whatever you have, I used a mix of large field mushrooms & portabellos as that is what I had spare).
Shallot (one, c.50g)
Garlic (2 or 3 cloves)
Crème fraiche (I used CF light, about half fat, but regular is fine)
Stock 800ml (I used chicken as I had some in the fridge, but veg is fine too)
Dark soy sauce

Heat the stock in a large pan.
Finely dice shallot and garlic and fry until soft. Transfer to stock pot.
Chop mushrooms and fry in a little oil (rapeseed for me) and butter, with a splash of soy sauce.
Best to do this in batches unless you have a very large pan.
Transfer to stock pot.
Simmer for 20-30 minutes.
Add a generous dollop of crème fraiche (or cream if you prefer, I used some leftover brandy cream after Christmas and that did it no harm at all)
Blitz well. (I prefer a jug blender but the stick blenders are fine too).
Eat. This is very low in carbs, if that is important to you.

Any bits of leftover cooked chicken, chopped and added after mushrooms is also great. I tend to use any bits I can find on the carcass after it has been used to make the stock (waste not want not and all that).
Hope you enjoy.

Thursday May 02

FBG was 5.6 at 0705, food yesterday was;
Breakfast: 3/4 cup honey nut cheerios w/2% milk, black tea, 500 mg metformin
Lunch: slice of black forest ham, several slices pickled beets, pickled egg, 4 dried apricots, black tea
Dinner: leftover bbq steak, green salad w/Kraft Catalina dressing, 1/2 cup blueberries, 3 glasses red wine, 500 mg metformin
Snack: glass of dark rum w/diet Pepsi, 1/4 cup blueberries

FBG a bit higher than expected (blueberries at about 2300?), 7 or so cm (2.5 inches) of snow on ground, likely will all melt today. Learning all (? or something anyway) about using manual lenses on digital auto everything camera, very entertaining... :snaphappy:

Central Alberta, between Calgary and Edmonton but most of it melted, perhaps more to come, spring is late this year...
Lovely part of the world. I spent some time in Banff a few years ago when travelling across Canada on a train.

FBG a bit higher than expected (blueberries at about 2300?
Blueberries are about the highest carb of the berry family.. raspberries or strawberries are about half the carbs I think.. maybe give them a try instead.

Friday May 03

FBG was 5.6 at 0805 (8 hr fast), food yesterday was;
Breakfast: zero, zilch. nada... starving for restaurant lunch at Cora's, black tea, 500 mg metformin
Lunch: Cora's western omelette, sliced tomato instead of fruit, (no toast) and tried a few pan fries (not a good idea), several coffees with cream and splenda
Dinner: jumbo shrimp (stir fried in butter, garlic and Harvey's Bristol Cream), 1 cup mushrooms stir fried the same way, 4 glasses red wine, 500 mg metformin
Snack: glass of "Traditional" dark beer, 2 hefty glasses dark rum w/diet Pepsi

FBG measurements as expected, will have to cut out the snack and see what happens if fasting for more than 8 hrs. Temp here +2C & cloudy skies, snow has all melted and am continuing with photography manual lens experiencial learning...

Edit at 0858... Spoke too soon about snow, it just started snowing right now...
