Today is day three of my fast. On day one I drank water, a cup of green tea, and a little Bone Broth.
Yesterday I had similar but at midday I had a cup of coffee, made with double cream instead of adding milk, and with a knob of butter added to it. Now I am uncertain if this was okay to do since butter/cream is not water! Help!

There really are no rules to any of this. Some of the benefits of WF are due to lack of digestion, while others come from ketosis. Whether you'll be able to leverage ketosis depends on how long you go without carbs, with the time being able to be somewhat reduced if you add exercise to the equation and/or if your normal diet has in or near to ketosis anyway.

In the case of your additions, there´s nothing there that would have stopped you going into ketosis nor really anything that would require significant digestion. Sure, from a purists persepctive you might lose some points, but nothing to worry about. The only potential downside is if these little tastes led you to craving to eat muhch more dense foods. But that seems to not have been the case. If anything, these little things probably kept you sticking with it and it´s likely you got more from the process than if you had not done it at all.

Aww thank you so for your detailed reply, and no, I had no desire to eat anything or even have more coffee. x

Well, one of the benefits of ketosis can be the cessation of hunger. This is normally why the first few days are considered rough, but normally by day 4 things get easier. I've had a lot of experience of fasted-ketosis, and the quitting of hunger. Fed-ketosis, for me, was a whole other story ;)

Fats can have the effect of bump starting ketosis, so the coffee might have been beneficial if that is the reason for fasting.
I did a sort of fast after diagnosis - but it was a reversion to carnivore after all the carbs I'd been pushed to eat.

I didn't know that @Resurgam and YES ... it was my way of trying to get into ketosis following a dreadful five months. I've just eaten my first meal after 72 hours fasting and just had an omelette stuffed with red onion, mushrooms, mixed peppers and a sliced tomato, so hope that wasn't overdoing things!!!

The advice I’ve read it to go very light following a fast so you don’t get a upset tummy, like bone broth, but I’m sure an omelette isn’t too bad as long as it was made with just one egg.
Well done on the fast of 72 hours

Thank you so much, and I am pleased with how well it all went. It was far easier than I expected taking into account that I've been quite 'lost' with my eating habits recently xx

Impressed @coby!
How are your energy levels?
Once are in keto and happy with it, the best part for me is the limitless energy. And the good feelings you get from it.

Hi @Lamont D ... the one thing I did notice yesterday morning (day two) was how light and 'free' I felt while out walking! Hard to expain what I mean really but maybe you know the feeling? I sort of felt as if I could almost fly if I wished to! xx

It's like an exhilaration, giddy, even at my age wanting to do more than I was able to.
The not feeling tired, and a better sleep pattern I found.
Elton John song.

I'm still satanding.
Feelin' like a little kid.
