Kids going back to school is going to kick start the economy? Doesn't the economy need a work force?
"But if we can reopen schools after the Easter holidays things could begin to get back to normal. It could kick-start the economy."
Kids going back to school would mean the workforce could go back to school once their kids are back in school, with teachers, librarians, cleaners, who are all members of the workforce.
@Max68 . Definitely resign. No body wants to be sacked.
Agreed..@jjraak . Obviously another option for the OP to consider. My response was to the two options offered up.
As a parent I don’t want to send my child back to school for a good while yet. If they reopen and I don’t I’m committing a criminal offence.
It would be far more disruptive to open and close and open and close them bouncing along the peaks of the illness. Parents, workers, teachers have found solutions to school closures for now. Let’s just keep it as it is until a proper and safe lifting of the restrictions can take place.
I've got a feeling that there is some exploration going on for palatability. Will the population like/support it or not? So as with other responses take your time, this is a long game.just an unnamed busy body making a silly comment
I'm assuming you mean the workforce can go back to work.

Do you have kids? Teenagers? Getting online is what they do in the holidays!Sounds like a good idea. I just wish the parents where I live would realize it is now Spring Break week (formerly known as the Easter Holidays) and let their poor kids get offline for a while so the Internet can speed up again to keep us all in touch-at-a-social-distance.
You may well be right but if it’s all the same to you I’ll go to the back of the queue thanks, along with my family, and wait quietly for the vaccine and treatments to be developed and let those impatient get it over with go right to the front. The way I see it is... You are going to get covid anyway... It has been clearly stated more than 80 percent will get it... Social distancing is only to prevent too many cases at once so that the NHS can cope with the rate of admission.
So whether schools reopen now or in 12 months the chances are we will suffer this virus the only other real chance we have as time passes is that a vaccine is developed
The only thing I can imagine is going through their heads at the moment is that as NHS capacity is increased as facilities open like nightingale and voluntary NHS staff come back so we can afford a few more cases now?
Obviously these aren't normal times and one would hope that the school would show a duty of care and certain staff would not be forced back, but what if they were? What would you do?
